Overseeing the expansion and development of the companys oil production assets in northern Iraq, I manage a team of
expat and local engineers and installation technicians.
My responsibility to ensure that all new installations are designed and executed in compliance with company and
international standards and to promote safe working practices in the electrical discipline foremost but also across all
company activities.
Current projects include upgrading existing power generation systems to support process expansion
Managing EPC contracts to build 2 new captive power plants generating at 11 kV with new MV/LV distribution switchgear.
These will support not only the expansion of the assets but also remote wellheads by 11 kV ring main.
Acting as Subject Matter Expert for EPC contractor in FEED for a centralised 30MW power plant using associated gas
from the field.

Based in the EPC Contractors offices in Paris, overseeing the detailed design of the power generation ($M350) and utilities
($M380) projects phases for AgipKCOs Karabaton onshore facility. Multiple power generation systems consisting of Frame
9 Gas Turbine Generators, waste heat recovery & 2 Steam Turbines. Tying in these units to the power distribution network
through an open switchyard at 110kV.
Duties include the review of detailed design deliverables against project FEED documentation, project specification and
Kazakh \[PUE\] standards to ensure compliance.
Liaison with contractor engineering staff.
Witness testing of electrical capital equipment (generators, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems.)

Reporting to the Director of Property & Energy to provide assurance that all electrical systems and equipment are
compliant with local and international regulations and that operation of these assets complies with HSE regulation.
• To undertake the role of Electrical Safety Subject Matter Expert for the Company and deliver the
Electrical Safety Programme.
• Direct and augment the Electrical Safety Programme across the Group and provide the HSE
Council and HSE Board with assurance that all businesses, APs and RPs are in adherence to
Group Policy, Control Standards and the improvement project timescales.
• Develop, gain agreement to and maintain budgets, resource requirements and sourcing
arrangements for the Electrical Safety Programme that are aligned to and support the business
agenda and feed into the BPD process
• Manage a team of Electrical Safety specialists and other professionals, setting targets, priorities,
timelines and personal objectives for individuals and taking full responsibility for performance
and career management for the team.
• Maintain the companys body of knowledge in Electrical Safety through review of the Control
Standards and delivery of effective training and development programmes.

Lead Electrical Engineer managing team of electrical engineers in the design of electrical power supplies & controls for
production facilities in the KPO asset portfolio in North Western Kazakhstan.
Mentoring local electrical engineers in the methods used in the development of designs and workpacks.
Preparation of CTRs, allocation of resources.
Full responsibility for the electrical design packs submitted to Karachaganak Petroleum Organisation.
Client facing. Tight deadlines set by KPO and KGNT/WP management to improve margins and profitability.

As Technical Authority Level 2 for the Shell/SGC JV (Basra Gas Co) I led the electrical team of 4 in-country Iraqi
engineers and 4 expat resident electrical engineers (TA3) in Contractors offices on three continents. Also, in my team
were 12 electrical inspectors, though later, appropriately, transferred to Construction.
I interviewed and built the electrical team and thereafter mentoring / providing training for local engineers as
required Total asset value $1.4bn
10 gas compression stations, 2 NGL processing (350MMscfd), 1 LPG processing, 1 Storage and Marine export; 1
50/100MW Greenfield power plant; 132kV Power distribution from regional network to BGC assets Contributed to
the ITT for Ar Ratawi LNG competitive FEED.

Client representative based in EPCM offices in UAE, reviewing and approving FEED deliverables then progressing
through to detailed design for the EBLA Gas Project.
Electrical systems included 4 x Siemens GTG sets at 16MW each across two sites, 11 kV switchgear and distribution
systems Overseeing the contractor electrical engineering activities, reviewing designs against project specifications, and
international codes & standards to ensure compliance to protect stakeholder interests in the assets.
Reviewing and approving all electrical designs for electrical distribution systems within the EBLA gas processing facility
Monitoring the procurement activities and witnessing FATs for power generation, distribution & power management
systems.
Working with I&C engineers to address controls interfaces for power management / DCS systems.
Working with specialist vendors on Siemens Gas Turbine Generation packages and Gas Compression package
interfaces involving multi megawatt variable speed power drivers for gas compression.
Answering clarifications, responding to TQs, participation in e-HAZOP/SAFOP.
Reviewing claims for extras and reverting to project directorship on validity.
Providing technical support to the construction and commissioning teams.

Design (brownfield, offshore) - BP Miller North Sea.
Preparation of complete design deliverables and construction workscopes for the implementation of brownfield
modifications to live offshore production facilities.

Design (greenfield, offshore) - Shell Malampaya / Texaco Captain.
Design and development of subsea wellhead control modules for subsea oil production facilities. Development of complete
wellhead control systems including hydraulic power units (located topsides), electrical power units (located topsides).
Working with Information Management specialists to interface the control / status software.
