I’m currently on assignment with NEW YORK UNIVERSITY-ABU DHABI. I’m the Interim Director of Budget and Planning. In this role I’m responsible for the preparation and the oversight of the University’s annual budget process. I manage the budget division’s annual operating budget, prepare forecasts, authorize the allocation of funds and review and approve expenditures. I’ve lead the development of the University’s multi-year financial plan, I’ve developed financial models to enhance the reporting process. I partner with the CFO by providing counsel and guidance in facilitating policy and decision making.
As the Garden’s senior administrator responsible for financial and administrative operations. I had full responsibility for Finance, Information Technology, Human Resources and Support Services. These areas encompassed 20 full and part time staff. Provided leadership and oversight to the Garden’s capital construction program. Served as the senior institutional liaison to City and State agencies associated with the funding dimensions of the Garden’s capital construction and renovation programs. Served as the primary liaison to outside legal counsel, audit partners, and the Garden’s investment advisors and investment managers.
Responsibilities included oversight of Finance, Risk Management, Human Resources, and Information Technology activities for operations in the United States, Mali, Sudan, Morocco, West Bank, Jordan and Egypt. Provided weekly cash flow reports to the President, and initiate short term financing solutions. Coordinated the financial audits for New York and the overseas offices, including communicating with the overseas auditors on GAAP rules related to certain audit procedures. Reviewed and approved USAID grant applications for overseas based entities. Monitored the monthly multi currency conversions for transactions with the overseas offices.
Spearheaded vendor disbursements and accounting for investments with net asset values totaling $274M, while providing strategic direction on short term and long term financial planning goals. Analyzed risk management and established insurance levels for all risk areas. Created board presentation books and controlled all procedures for
annual budget preparation. Collaborated with department heads of cross-functional groups to obtain feedback before implementing budget cuts. Served as liaison between senior management team and outside legal counsel.
