Duties and responsibilities
1. Follows the medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
2. Ability to assess a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments that includes pediatric, geriatric and general patient population.
3. Ability to revise plan of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.
4. Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain utilizing appropriate pain management techniques.
5. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors.
6. Formulates a teaching plan, based on identified learning needs, and evaluates effectiveness of learning.
7. Demonstrates ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
8. Communicates appropriately and clearly to Head Nurse and physicians.
9. Consults other departments and collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities.
10. Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient.
11. Demonstrates ability to assist physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.
12. Maintains a harmonious inter department working relationship.
13. Identifies and addresses psycho social needs of patient and family; communicates with Social Services/ discharge planner regarding both in-hospital and post-discharge needs.
14. Maintains performance improvement activities for department.
15. Coordinates and supervises patient care as necessary.
16. Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times.
17. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire safety and infection control.
