Reviewing request & estimating for quotation and tender requests, opportunities & assess relevant technical standards, requirements to satisfy the customer. Deliver detailed evaluation of customer opportunities and work with sales, finance and operations teams to define the cost and program impact of these requirements. Define with operations the operational method to execute the work including supporting detailed process methods estimation. Define any required additional work or processes to be able to bid and execute the work. Check the order for completeness and review against initial proposal for completeness- informing sales team of changes or errors. After review checking that there is a ‘clean’ order to process in Operations and passing this onto the relevant department for execution. Working with Operations & Sales team in new business development, presentation to customers, shop floor visits etc. As necessary attending job site to review work, address technical issues, or discuss job aspects with customers. As required deputise for the Operations Manager in internal & external meetings.
Managed day-to-day workshop activities, including fabrication and machining. Coordinated tasks to meet production schedules and customer requirements, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and maintaining quality standards. Additionally, led and motivated a team of technicians and fabricators, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback. Identified trends in equipment failures and implemented corrective measures. Quality assurance was a priority, as I maintained high standards in fabrication and machining processes, monitored workmanship, and collaborated with quality control personnel. Resource management involved effective allocation of resources to meet production targets, managing procurement, suppliers, and subcontractors. Lastly, I continuously analyzed processes, implemented best practices, and drove improvement initiatives across the workshop.
Managed comprehensive operations at the Marine - Oil & Gas service workshop, covering mechanical, machining and fabrication aspects. Responsibilities included scheduling, directing, and monitoring activities, ensuring adherence to established schedules. Reviewed scope of works, shop drawings, and established production objectives and standards for quality, timely delivery, and cost-effectiveness. Oversaw planning, assessment, and scheduling of various jobs, implemented techniques for operational efficiency, improved quality standards, and achieved cost savings. Collaborated with procurement, quality control, and sales team members, strategically scheduling and organizing activities to ensure timely project execution within budget constraints. Evaluated non-conformities, identified root causes, and recommended preventive actions. Engaged in product conceptualization, development, safety procedures, and tool and fixture design. Conducted annual performance appraisals for workshop personnel and maintained communication with the General Manager.
Reported directly to the Managing Director and involved overseeing critical aspects of workshop operations. Responsibilities included strategic planning, leadership, organization, and supervision of day-to-day activities within the fabrication and machining workshop. Strict adherence to company procedures and client specifications was ensured, along with managing the proper utilization of machinery, materials, and tools in alignment with company policies. Additionally, meticulous documentation of operation processes was maintained, recording essential details according to both client requirements and company standards. The commitment to excellence contributed to the efficient functioning of the workshop and the successful execution of projects.
