Business Analyst at IBM
  • United Kingdom
  • My current job since March 2010

NG is the sole electricity and gas transmission company in Britain and also holds Gas Distribution licenses for
certain areas of the UK.
Currently working on the Strategic Asset Management (SAM), an analytics platform for the Electricity
Transmission division that will help NG on their path to realize a Smart Grid.
* Played a key role to help shape the SAM programme from the very initial days of its inception by being
involved in scoping the programme and aligning it with the NG strategy.
* Built and maintained a good relationship with a number of key senior stakeholders that helped the team to
successfully deliver the first part of the ongoing SAM programme.
* Analyzed the existing asset maintenance planning and online asset condition monitoring process and
established the business requirements to build a system to mimic the processes.
* Managed the delivery of the maintenance planning system by acting as a liaison between the NG business
users and the offshore development team.
* Authored several options analysis papers during my stay at NG; two of which helped IBM win projects
(worth £500k) from critical situations. The underlying theme of these papers was to analyze and come up
with recommendations for delivering the business requirements satisfactorily by utilizing the sanctioned
funds for the project and by aligning the recommendations with the NG strategy.
* Authored several investment papers during my stay at NG. Investment papers involve making a business
case (strategic and financial) for a project; including cost benefit analysis and alignment with the RIIO
regulatory framework.
* Worked for the Gas Distribution Unit at NG for about six months where I authored an investment paper for
a programme that was looking to enhance their IT systems and an options paper for sending latest policies
and procedure over air to field engineers. Helped prototype applications related to asset maintenance.
* Won many appreciations for my work at NG
