Wartsila is an Finnish multinational conglomerate with revenues over USB 6B and a major player in the ship building and powerplant building projects

The goal of the project was to implement PLM application suites and integrate it with their Oracle Landscape and integration of PLM product development modules with Primavera. Geometric software were awarded the project to implement the Teamcenter Engineering enterprise portfolio and integrate it with Primavera.
Responsibility
-> Involved in deep dive gap analysis, requirements technical workshops and create the product backlogs.
-> 9 disintegrated legacy application which was in use for almost 20 years had to migrated to the new Oracle application with data migration a and new web based application developed using Oracle Portal 10.
-> Involved in the design and development of the prototype of the application using Oracle Apex 2.1 for the customer’s buy-in on the application UI, page layout which matched to the customer) standard for the subsequent development of the system in Oracle ADF.
-> Implementation of the Teamcenter Engineering 2005 for ship building business group and integrate it with Primavera EPPM suites for the various projects that are adopted with PLM systems.
-> Involved as a technical architect in design and development of the data objects and data model for the application suites which consists of close to 360+ MDM tables of structured data for the various business division for the MRO system. Involved in the creation of data models using Oracle ADF Business Service.
-> Migration of data from MSSQL and MS Access database and move their product development information from the existing .Net application to the enterprise suite.
-> Developed web application for CMM(Component Maintenance Manual) document publishing with Oracle ADF and deployed them on Oracle Application Server. The content for the Component Manintenance manual which is the deliverable from the application is generated as a pdf file with the contents such as text and images derived from Documentum server. Developed UI fragments, templates and bounded task flows using Jdeveloper 11g.
-> Design and develop code for the publishing of the documents as pdf files using PTC Arbotext, XSLT and XML.Developed Model components (creation, configuration, and tuning of entity objects, view objects, application modules, bindings and data controls). Exposed generic web service interfaces (JPA/EJB3 Services).
-> Developed the business code for Product Management Interface, product pages, versioning systems, EOD program modules, DMS modules, EBRT calculations and the integration of Oracle BPEL process and ADF Oracle Business Rules SDK(SOA Module).
-> Responsible for the UI design for the customer user group changes which supported multi-language support as this application was used by supplier and customer around the world.
-> Worked extensively in fine tuning the application with the Oracle application security architect in the areas of authentication(Oracle Identity Manager and Access Manager), security as the data related is highly secured by a arms treaty and regulatory body.
-> Worked on projects involving performance tuning to improve the overall performance of the application suites and also identifying performance bottleneck and interacting with Oracle Support for a patch build.
-> UAT involving multiple stake holders at multiple location, production roll-out and supporting the application for multiple business related issues with Rule based system.

UGS Teamcenter (iMAN) is the PLM product by UGS Solutions for product Engineerings, design, and life cycle management. The portfolio of application involves a one-stop-solution for all manufacturing needs of the customers. The products were earlier design and developed in Unix based systems (X-Motif) since 1980s and the rollout to Windows based systems for Teamcenter Engineering product suite was strategically decided. TCS had a strategic alliance with UGS Solution at their offshore design and development. The 4-Tier J2EE application caters to the portfolio applications that are designed for the customers’ needs.
Responsibility
-> Involved in the benchmarking activities of the project such as evaluating, rating the functionalities and preparing the benchmark report based on the previous release of the product.
-> Performed an architectural assessment and to identify performance bottlenecks due to architecture and implementation flaws based on the customer support review and the customer tickets. Problems identified included in the areas of memory / cache management, threading, and other design issues in the core application functionality.
-> Re-architected and developed (in C++) the application server side API gateways from the previous release in X-Motif which supports Windows, Solaris and AIX. The C++ APIs were for critical business needs such as BOM management, Workflow management, integration management, Business Modeler, PLM/Application integration etc The innovative new design was highly multi-threaded and completely component-based with design patterns.
-> As a core member of the product development team I was involved in the design and development of the Java based portlet application suite for the design and development of the user workflow system. Worked extensively in the Java swings for business modeler design for workflow design and development.
-> Interaction with the users and the management develop a prototype demonstrating the functionalities of legacy system.
-> Utilized object oriented designs skills including UML modeling and the application of J2EE design and implementation patterns.
-> Participated in designing the architecture of the product architecture team of the core business modeler application framework;
-> Developed underlying database structure including deployment scripts. Developed entity Enterprise Java Beans to build the persistent layer for the classes used by the application and implemented the Session Facade design pattern in order to reduce complexity of entity EJB structure exposed to the persistent layer from the prior release of the product.
-> Developed XML writer used for presentation of end-user reports for the named queries and XSL style sheets to convert these reports to HTML pages for multi lingual support of the product. Developed value object classes to implement the Value Object design pattern in order to reduce number of network and database calls and increase the performance of the system. Developed presentation layer of the system using JSP and Swing applets. Developed parsing and data loading modules for data exchange between the system components including optimizing the SQL queries.

Windchill was the first web based product solution for PLM launched by PTC. This is a Java based application portfolio to manage the product data and integrate with the CAD and industry sub systems such as ERP especially for Product management and lifecycle. NAL has the largest high speed supersonic Windtunnel in Asia which caters to the testing of airborne systems for flight control. Test datas are retrieved from this system using real time computers which are voluminous and reports are to be generated with various physical parameters. The raw data has to be uploaded to the database environment which gives the start point for report generation and analysis with the various research team
