Develop and oversee implementation of strategic framework for Absa Bank to ensure compliance with Safety,
Health and Environment (SHE) and Sustainability policies, legislation, regulations and report on their
sustainability performance to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Develop and implement programs and strategies that measure, mitigate and monitor sustainability risks
and opportunities within Absaʼs operations.
• Set annual Safety, Health and Environment targets for Absa Bank Ghana.
• Prepare and report on annual sustainability performance report for Absa Ghana to management, board
and the group.
• Evaluate Sustainability section of corporate credit application to ensure that target client company
complies with applicable environment and social (E&S) requirements (Achieve through due diligence,
such as site visits, collection of necessary E&S documentation (e.g., certificates and authorizations),
and preparation of E&S due diligence reports.
• Ensure that appropriate environmental representations, warranties, and covenants are incorporated in
each loan or investment agreement.
• Supervise portfolio (financial investments like stocks, bonds, commodities) projectsʼ on-going
compliance with the applicable requirements on a regular basis.
• Ensure that the Bank's Sustainability strategy is articulated to internal and external stakeholders
through key communication channels.
• Lead environment and social impact assessment for projects undertaken by the bank.
• Lead auditor for workplace (including warehouses) and contractor/service providers internal SHE
audits.
• Coordinate inspections/inquiries held by statutory bodies, regulators and supervise inspections and
audits by external assessors, auditors and the regional team.
• Deliver SHE training, including materials, to leadership team, all employees, contractors and create an
annual training plan for whole bank.
• Project manage the Bankʼs annual year end sustainability disclosures.
• Provide sustainability disclosures for Equator Principles reporting.
• Prepare and maintain internal communication on sustainability including developing slide presentations
and videos on sustainability and community engagement.

Social, Environmental, Health and Safety Audit.
• The recertification of the Ahafo Mine Site to International Cyanide Management Code in 2014.
• Three Mine Safety Audits conducted by the Inspectorate Division of Minerals Commission.
• Two Akoben (Environment & Social) Audit conducted by The Ghana Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) and the mine achieved BLUE Rating for both audits.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinated Project & Property Insurance Assessment (Zurich Project & Property Insurance
Assessment) for two years.
• Lead Auditor for internal Contractor Audits (Vendors audited included: Shell/VIVO Energy, Antrak
Airline, Mantrac, Pergah Transport, WAFOR, African Explosive Limited (AEL), ATS).
• Developed a site-wide cross functional Workplace and Contractor Audit Schedule and monitored
effectiveness in consultation with stakeholders.
• Undertook verification of completion and close-out of corrective and preventative actions from internal
cross-functional and third-party audits
• Provided progress reports and close-out of corrective actions from internal (contractor and workplace)
audits and inspections.
• Contributed to the development of Environment, Health, Safety and Social Responsibility standard
operating procedures (SOPs) and training awareness materials.
• Ensured compliance of the IMS to relevant Newmont ESR and HSLP standards, participate in site-wide
inspections/audits and monitor progress of corrective action plans as part of the continuous
improvement of the IMS.
• Maintenance of documentation and systems relating to the IMS including intranet pages, document and
record registers, online legislation register and change management register.

Prepared journey plans for handling and transportation of sodium cyanide and other hazardous
chemicals to mine sites in Mali, Burkina Faso and Ghana.

• Conducted an environmental impact assessment for a small and medium scale companies, identified
knowledge gaps and developed an environmental management plan that allowed client to obtain an
environmental permit despite prior rejections.
• Hired as an expert by small and medium size companies in need of EHS policy, training programs, and
EHS programs for their operations.
• Consulted by legal experts in EHS legal issues.
