Mussafah Water Transmission Scheme (MWTS), Mussafah to Abu Dhabi, Lot M, EPC Contract No. N4268.2
SCOPE OF WORK: The scope of work is including, but not limited to the following three packages: 1.1 Package M1A: Modification in Lot F Pump Station to interface, Feed and Control the Lot M Pipeline Packages M2 and M3 - Engineering, Design, Supply of Materials and Equipment, Construction, Installation, Testing, Pre-commissioning, Commissioning, including trial and initial operation), handing over and warrant the work (during the maintenance period for the following: 1) Modification in Lot F Pump Station (currently feeding DN 1200 Lot F pipeline) to also interface, feed and control the Lot M DN1600 pipeline Packages M2 and M3 towards Abu Dhabi Island. The work shall in principle take place within the plot of existing Musaffah Pumping Station (Lot D & Lot F) including the following: 2) Extend the Lot F Pump Station DN 1200 discharge pipeline to tie-in with the Pipeline Packages M2 and M3 inciuding all the piping works, control valves, bypass, shut-off valves, flow meters, additional by-pass headers and all the associated civil works, valve chambers, etc.
3) Complete detailed hydraulic study (steady and surge) for the common supply system with different operating scenarios using existing Lot F pumps to concurrently feed both Lot F and Lot M pipeline towards AI Wathba and Abu Dhabi Island respectively
4) All the electrical and mechanical works including suction side surge vessels connecting to and using existing discharge side surge vessel (provisional), new hypo-chlorination dosing pumps, new injection and sampling arrangement and electrical supply to all the new project components.
5) All the new / modified I&C system to monitor and control Lot F pump station and Lot F & Lot M pipeline.
6) PLC/SCADA Control system for the pipeline, shelter, interfaces to Load dispatch Centre (LDC) and interface with the existing control system.
7) All the ancillary equipment, valves, sump pump, electrical and I&C works along the Pipeline Packages M2 & M3.
8) All associated civil works such as piping, chambers, foundations, support blocks, surge vessel foundations including piling works and soil replacement.
1.2 Package M2: DN 1600 Pipeline from Lot F Pumping Station at Musaffah up to Musaffah interchange - Engineering, Design, Supply of Materials, Construction, Installation, Testing, Pre-commissioning, Commissioning (including trial & initial operation), handing over and warrant the work during the maintenance period of approximately 13.8 km of ON 1600 pipeline from Lot F Musaffah Pumping Station up to Musaffah Interchange including NDRC works, connection to the existing 2 x ON 900 D.1. Pipelines connecting Umm AI Nar pump station to Unit IV pump station. Supply & installation of field instruments along the branch pipelines, laying Dual redundant Fiber Optic Cables (FOC) along the new pipeline routes as mentioned above. The dual redundant fiber optic cables shall connect Lot-F pump station with the common junction and Umm AI Nar RTUs via dual redundant configuration network. Supply, installation and testing of inline closure, etc., patch panels and all auxiliaries as required. Commissioning of pipeline FOC and branch field instruments. All other associated civil and earth works, instrumentation etc. shall be carried out by the Contractor.
1.3 Package M3: DN 1600 Pipeline from Musaffah interchange up to Abu Dhabi - Engineering, Design, Supply of Materials, Construction, Installation, Testing, Precommissioning, Commissioning (including trial & initial operation), handing over and warrant the work during the maintenance period of approximately 16.0 Km of DN 1600 pipelines from Musaffah Interchange up to Abu Dhabi at IP 135 including NRDC works, the crossing of Maqta channel by2 x DN 1200 C.S. pipeline using horizontal directional drilling (HDD) method including short length of DN 1400 pipeline. Connection to the existing 3 x DN 800 D.1. Pressure Ring Main (PRM) pipelines, provision of future connection to Hodayrat Island, DN 1200 pipelines for a distance of approximately 2.5 km from IP 135 up to IP 58B via IP 59, connection to existing DN 900 pipeline running to Unit I at IP 59 and connection to the existing DN 1000 Pressure Ring Main-PRM pipeline at IP 58B. Supply & installation of field instruments along the pipeline branches, laying of dual redundant Fiber Optic Cable (FOC) along the pipeline and also Dual redundant Fiber Optic Cables for interfacing with four interface points in Dhabi. Supply, installation and testing of inline closure, etc., patch panels and all auxiliaries as required. Commissioning of pipeline FOC and branch field instruments. All other associated civil and earth works and instrumentation works etc.
Duties and Responsibilities are:
1) Review of Civil material submitals & Method Statements as per Contract Specifications.
2) Inspection of Civil materials received on site ..
3) Correspondance/ coordination meetings with Government Departments, other consultants and Contractors.
4) Approval of site works, including pipeline, civil and NDRC works.

• Construction of approx.2.214 km of OD 225 mm and 1.295 km of OD 180 mm HDPE line PE100+ SDR 11 pipelines for the water supply to Mr. Suwaidi Rest House at Ruwaisia, Mirfa, including valve chambers, fire hydrants and house connections.
• Connection of above new pipeline system to the existing D.I. 600 mm pipeline

C V.O.2 Water Supply to ENEC Compound in Jabal Baraka - Western Region
• Construction of approx.60 m of DN400mm D.I. to be connected to the existing DN1000mm Jabal Dhana ( Shuweihat) - Silaa transmission pipeline, including a DN300mm interface metering and control unit as per TRANSCO requirements.

Shuweihat Water Transmission Scheme

Shuweihat Water Transmission Scheme involves the bulk transfer of desalinated water from a new plant at Shuweihat to Mussafah in Abu Dhabi a distance of 250 Km.Maunsell has been awarded the design and supervision works for Lot "A", which constitues a twin 1600 pipeline, 97km long, running from Shuweihat Desalination Plant to an itermediate Pumping Station at Mirfa in the western region of Abu Dhabi. Pipeline materials have been awarded for Ductile Iron pipes (Pont-A Mousson and Kubota) .The pipelines pass through salt laden (sabkha) areas with a high water table for the majority of the route.The pipelines are mainly constructed above natural ground level in earth bunds with service track on one side.Zinc/bitumin pipes are used in earth bund and Polyurethane pipes for underground areas.
Duties and responsibilities are:supervision and inspection of different types of construction of pipe laying from type I to type IV start from setting out of ROW, clearing and grubbing, excavation to formation level, laying of geotextile 1st layer, bund formation up to 300mm above pipe, excavation of trench, laying of geotextile 2nd layer, sand bedding, pipe laying, backfilling of sand surround, complition of bund, fiber optic cable and final layer of gatch material as top protection.Involved in concrete structures like Thrust Block for wash out tees and bends, Double wash out chamber, Shutoff valve chamber, Bypass valve chamber and Air valve chamber.Also involved in non distubtive road crossing (NDRC) using micro tunnelling equipment, pressure test up to 25 bars, flushing, disinfection, inspection of materials on site, writing of weekly reports to R.E., reviewing of inspections requests and check lists submitted by inspectors prior for approval of R.E.
