During this period, I worked in three organizations, out of which fourteen years were spent in “Oman International Exhibition Centre”, a government owned company which dealt with organizing exhibitions and events of different kinds. I was responsible for each and every aspect of finance and accounts. A brief description is as under:
•Complete supervision of book keeping, in a custom made Indian Software.
•Monthly accounts for management.
•Quarterly accounts for audit committee. It had to be audited by internal auditors and presented to audit committee alongwith internal audit report for their review and approval.
•Annual accounts, with external auditor report. Its published report had to be sent to the Ministry of Finance of Commerce & Industry which was its sole shareholder.
•Last but not the least, my responsibility was to get overall performance audited from State Auditors. It is the highest authority in the Sultanate of Oman which can report matters to His Majesty also.
•Filing of tax returns and getting them audited by the tax authorities,
•Supervision of purchases and investments.
About four years, I worked in a daily newspaper and two years in a real estate company. Which dealt with maintaining and giving the properties on rent. In both companies, I was incharge of complete accounting work.
I worked initially as internal auditor and then as accountant handling dealing with banks. Since it was an export oriented company, my main concern was to arrange working capital for production and L/C period in a way that cost of capital was lowest. Other than that I had to see the refund of rebats and commission payable/receivable from foreign parties
Besides day to day work, here I developed computerized accounting, administration and manufacturing system of the group in IBM AS 400 minicomputer in which extensive networking was involved. At that time, it was a very exhaustive and comprehensive system.
Worked as audit clerk.
I passed CA intermediate exams. It doesn't have any grades
