Senior Broadcast & Facility Maintenance Engineer Saudi Broadcasting Authority - Eastern Region, KSA (14 Transmission Sites) | 2008 - Present • Responsible for all FM, TV, and DAB+ transmission sites in the Eastern Region — covering operation, fault diagnosis, and scheduled maintenance of high-power transmitters from (THALES, HARRIS, NEC, BE, NAUTEL, ELECTROLINK, SYS).
• Broadcast uptime consistently maintained above 99.5% across all 14 sites through structured
preventive maintenance plans and fast fault response.
• Manage all facility infrastructure at each site: LV power distribution, ATS, UPS, diesel generators, HVAC, fire alarm and suppression systems, CCTV, and access control.
• Reduced unplanned downtime by approximately 35% by shifting from reactive to preventive
maintenance across facility systems.
• Handle spare parts planning and equipment lifecycle decisions to keep procurement costs under
control while maintaining site reliability.
Work directly with vendors including THALES, HARRIS, NAUTEL, SYS and ELECTROLINK for technical support, firmware updates, and recurring fault resolution.
• Lead and train the technical team across multiple sites, covering safety procedures, fault handling,
and equipment operation.
• Use Spectrum Analyzers, I_ROVER, Network Analyzer, and Field Strength Meters for RF
monitoring and coverage quality checks.
Notable Projects DDC/MCC Building Automation Integration - Dr. Sulaiman Al-Habib Hospital, Al-Khobar | 2019 Installed and wired sensors and actuators on AHU machines, then connected the wiring to DDC panels and MCC boards as part of a building automation project at the hospital. The work required careful coordination given the live clinical environment and the sensitivity of the systems involved. PLC Control System Recovery - OB Transmission Vehicle, Eastern Region The OB vehicle’s PLC card — which controlled the AC units, fan speeds, and interior lighting — failed with no replacement available. To avoid pulling the vehicle from service, I designed individual relaybased control circuits for each AC unit so each one could be operated independently via remote control, and restored the lighting through direct switching. The vehicle went back into service without interrupting any broadcast schedule.
Automated Broadcast Monitoring Circuit - Arduino, Eastern Region We have four programs on air at the same time, and the control room technician used to switch between them manually on the monitoring radio throughout the shift to check each one was running. I built an Arduino circuit that handles the switching automatically every 30 seconds, so the technician just listens without touching anything. The interval can be adjusted in the code if needed. Simple solution, but it removed a repetitive task completely.
Temperature Alarm Circuit - Transmission Room, Eastern Region Built a relay-based alarm circuit to monitor temperature inside the transmission room. When the temperature rises above the set limit, a buzzer sounds and an indicator lamp turns on at the same time — the lamp covers situations where the technician is away from the control room and cannot hear the buzzer. There is also a silence button to mute the buzzer, but the lamp stays on until the temperature actually drops back to normal. The whole circuit uses a thermostat, relays, and standard control components with no microcontroller.
