I play a key role as member of the Data Acquisition Core supporting Peo Project(P20) which is a
collaboration between a number of stakeholders such as Ministry of Health & Wellness, University of
Botswana, University of Pennsylvania, Harvard University and Wits University. The project aims to
establish a Regional Centre of Research Excellence in Southern Africa for Non Communicable
Diseases, piloting with Breast Cancer, Hypertension and Motor- Accident related Trauma. As part of
the Data Acquisition team and my primary focus is;
• Assessed and mapped out facility-based data acquisition practices, trends and processes
selected core data variables for Breast Cancer, Hypertension and Road Accident Trauma
Research Groups.
• Developed Standard of Procedures (SOPs) and Code of Conduct/Ethics for Fellows
(Medical Doctors) responsible for Research data collection and analysis.
• Facilitate, train and lead different multidisciplinary teams to implement improvements
initiatives using the PDSA (Plan Do Study Act) approach.
• Initiate development of novel data acquisition solutions; facilitate data quality,
management and utilization at facility level.
• Conduct needs assessment for further development of eHIS for identified core data
elements and make recommendations of adopting best practices, efficient and optimal
use of relevant ICT to support customer service.
• Conduct quality assessments, system monitoring and audits.
• Steering Committee member responsible for the Breast Cancer and Road Accidents
Trauma study protocol development, research execution and management.
