Along with Teradata hardware and software appliance sale, Teradata also offers consulting services in DWH building phase - like Data discovery, Requirement Gathering/Analysis, Data Modeling, ETL & Business Intelligence functionality development, Performance Tuning. The company also has other products - applications like CRM, MDM and implementation, customization services are also provided along with them.
Yogendra is practice manager for Business Intelligence and Applications practices at Teradata’s Global Delivery Center (GDC) in India. His responsibilities includes pre-sales support, interaction with onsite teams/customers, resource development (recruitment, mentoring), competency development, service delivery ownership/support, post production support, etc.
Apart from technical expertise in Teradata Products and Data ware housing; this role requires high level of inter-group/customer interaction, interpersonal skills, resource management skills.
Responsibilities:
• Practice management - Lead and manage BI practice at GDC and perform following tasks related to resourcing, capability, project execution
• Resource management - Review project requirements and assign right fit resources for required work/role.
• Resource Development and Knowledge management - Recruitment support, competency development, coordinate internal/external trainings
• Technical Consultancy and Pre sales support - Support Professional Service group in proposals, estimations, assessments, customer visits and any other technical consultancy for customer like proof of concepts, conducting tool evaluation studies
• Provide technical support for Service Delivery -Project / Delivery Management - Manage projects in BI/Applications area and mentor teams from technical and execution perspective. Provide support to projects in design reviews, develop standards, best practices.
BICoE (Business Intelligence-Center of Excellence) Competency group identifies training needs of latest BI technologies in the market. This group plans and conducts trainings for BI professional. To support training programs, servers for all major BI tools like Informatica, Business Objects, Data Integrator, COGNOS are maintained so that BI professionals can enhance their skills. These servers also are used for research on tools and creating proof of concepts for customer presentations. Appropriate self-learning materials like presentations, recorded sessions are maintained in the repository.
To verify effectiveness of trainings various expertise levels of assignments are designed. A competency project is designed for new joiners. In this project team undergoes full SDLC - Requirement Analysis, Design, Coding and Testing. This gives idea about real life project execution methodology, conventions and standards to new joiners,
Work for Competency Leader includes:
• Interact with resource manager to know resource, training needs
• Schedule training sessions on required BI tools
• Lead team thru training/assignments
• Lead team as a project leader in case of Competency project
• Verify team’s work
• Encourage knowledge sharing between new joiners and experienced professionals on projects
• Identify new technologies and develop new training material
• Outsource training programs in case of new technologies.
• Coordinate with training department and enhance training material with knowledge sharing.
• Manage software installation of BI Tool servers
• Admin activities of Informatica, COGNOS, ORACLE - access issues, space maintenance.
L&T is leading manufacturing company in Switchgear, heavy engineering products. Yogendra was handling in house software development using data from legacy systems and develop applications using COBOL, Foxpro.
Building and Supporting Switchgear production related data acquisition, data processing applications like Finished Goods System, Vendor Mgmt System, etc.
Also worked as Production Foreman handling actual production lines, technicians, finished goods.
Passed with A Grade Master in Business Administration - Information Technology. It covers stetting up and running Information technology, issues, standard practice, project management people management, in IT domain.
NCST is involved in training technical people and enhancing their skills in understanding what technology can do for human. It covers majors areas in IT and also stress on programming proficiency
