This part time post (12 hours a week) supporting local community students in there engineering subjects from high school to university level. Main subject tout is Mathematics, Solid Mechanics, Dynamics engineering, Fluid & Thermodynamics, Design engineering and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using ABAQUS software.
Structural Engineer at AMEC, AMEC is leading supplier of consultancy, engineering and project management service to customers in the world’s oil and gas, mining, clean energy, environment and infrastructure. My role as a senior Structural Analyst working for the Engineering Structural Simulation team at AMEC project related.
I am currently working for Subsea7 Oil and Gas company, I have worked on several project and currently working on BG- Knarr Norwegian project, and BP-Clair Ridge bundle projects, the work involves design and analysis the bundle and all pipes within the bundle this include bundle spacer and pipe-in-pipe centraliser for the production pipe.
Some of the analysis and calculation include bundle and pipe weight and buoyancy calculation, overall bundle centre of gravity, carrier pipe and production pipe bending stress calculation and its integrity, buckling and span analysis due to seabed environment and the current and wave at seabed, impact analysis representing fishing gear or drop object analysis using Finite Element analysis (Abaqus CAE).
Principal engineer, BAE system (Submarine Solutions), my role was as principal shock and dynamics engineer covers investigating the effects of the shock and vibration on the submarine and its auxiliary equipments. I worked on number of projects investigating shock effects on submarine hydraulics and electrical equipments most of this works was modelled and analysed using Abaqus CAE,
Senior Analysis worked for the Applied Technology Group provides supports and technical advice to the Technical project leaders and Engineer on the structure design of the Generator set. Making decision on the final design, taking to consideration that the new design is to pass the FE analysis and to meet the Engineering Standard work (ESW), product cost, manufacturing, total assembly time, etc. Types of analysis run are structural and Torsional analysis using ANSYS FE software.
Technical project leader, I typically lead a team of mechanical and electrical designers, engineers through the project work flow, I chair or attend several weekly meetings to ensure synchronisation is achieved between businesses on project management and technical delivery simultaneously.
Main duties to curry out static and dynamics analysis using ABAQUS finite elements software on several structure problems, muffler box, aircraft wings and welded beam joints this to monitor its static and dynamic behaviour under different conditions. In parallel with my research studies, I worked as a part-time lecturer and laboratory demonstrator. This involved tutoring engineering degree students for Mathematics, Solid Mechanics and Dynamics Engineering. As part of my part-time role, I also worked as an examination invigilator and a supervisor for some engine research-related MSc projects.
My role as design engineer at Mirrlees diesel engines manufacture was to develop new
design parts for different engine types. My duties included to redraw and updating old
drawings. I was much involved with Research and Development department R&D on
producing and testing new parts for the engines. Also involved on shop floor on
manufacturing and assembly problems
My PhD subject Transition between beam to plate behaviour Finite element analysis mechanical behaviour study of the structural frequency and the mode shape
One year full time course which consisted of a number of units and projects, my project was based on design for manufacturing using “DFMA” software to obtain the most efficient and cost effective method for design and manufacturing products.
I studied Maths, Dynamics, Solid Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics, thermodynamics, Design Engineering, and Manufacturing. The final year project was “Design gripper change mechanism for Robert A 300”. These works consisted of the design and manufacture of a mechanical gripper change mechanism keeping in consideration time and efficiency.
