Applications and projects director - Epic implementation at American University of Beirut Medical Center

Responsible for the overall scope, cost, schedule, and quality of the EPIC Health Information System (HIS) project. The implementation included integrating Epic system with multiple of third party applications in addition to in house solutions which included multiple of legacy applications. the budget of the mega project exceeded 50 millions USD.

Provided oversight of all aspects of development, implementation, and support of integrated clinical, access and revenue cycle application system.

Coordinated all project activities including but not limited to hardware and software installation, business unit tasks, internal/external communications with executives, administration, finance, purchasing, physicans, end users, and third party vendors, In addition to change management planning.

Supervised, lead and coached 80 healthcare and IT professionals who manage other areas of the project such as training, technical, interfaces, reporting and applications teams to ensure that a common vision, plan and goal are maintained across all areas of the project. Support the mission and vision of the American University of Beirut Medical Center.

Worked with the technical team to make sure infrastructure is configured correctly to host the solution, revise redundancy and availability strategies, work on business continuity policy for all departments, with downtime planning.

Manage the implementation and deployment of an emergency management system at the Ambulance Emergency center in Egypt administered by the ministry of health which serves around 40 million people.

The project is an integrated solution with a dispatch system Map and tracking system, and integration with telephony and radio system, it is considered as a large-scale, multi-million dollars project.

My tasks can be summarized as follows:

• Manage the communication with the EMS executives to ensure milestones and plans are clear, in addition to ensuring the commitment of end users to training and to the transitional period.
• Manage more than 50 engineers to the implementation of the project, whether from understanding the architecture and support process, maintenance, infrastructure management, the configuration of the system, troubleshooting, and upgrading the different modules.
• Business analysis for the process of work inside the dispatch center, and lead the system configuration.
• Manage the integration with third party systems as CISCO, AVL (automatic vehicle location) units, and others.
• Manage cloud integration for backups, and shared web services for identifying ALI.
• Manage client relationship, and tailor issue handling process.
• Coordination between the Ministry of Health and TriTech to fit their requirements in the system features.
• Budgeting of the project, and changing strategies to stay under the planned budget.
• Manage implementation milestones with development team, quality assurance, and road map.
• Plan failover scenarios and crisis plan for the system
• Manage technical team in Cairo-Egypt assigned for deployment of the system.

Power CAD is a configurable Computer Aided Dispatch system providing complete resource and incident management for single and multi-agency environments. Power CAD provides dispatchers with both graphical drag-and-drop and command-line control that increases dispatcher efficiency and accuracy.
Other application were designed and developed to interface with CAD for a full Public safety solution, it includes AVL (automatic vehicle locater), Reporting and search tool, BOLO (beyond lookup), Map Centric solution.

Tasks Include:

Our main task as a CAD team was to create the new generation of the Dispatch system that is used by emergency centers, improving scalability of the system to add as many workstations to the dispatch system.

Job description included design the .NET version of the CAD, in addition to the architecture of all modules integration and data manipulation, that includes the GIS system, the AVL, MIS and all dependent modules.

The job was also to Lead international projects including feasibility study, gap analysis, resource allocation, time management, client management, resource scheduling and follow up on task lists, in addition to cost management.

Being the person who worked in designing and developing the CAD system made me work in developing the features inside the solution by working with different clients whether to place a pilot, or to fully deploy the application. The task included helping the client to understand their requirements and needs and how to develop a solution to efficiently serve them.

I deployed the application in many sites, working with system architects to integrate with available systems the emergency center might be using, as Medical references, stolen car system...etc.

I have also worked with the bidding team to extract functionality requirements for the next generation.

Hospital patients’ profile for a transplant department was built on wireless technology using Windows CE, Embedded VB, and Oracle Lite. The application includes synchronization between the pocket PC and the server using infra red nodes. I performed analysis, design, development and deployment of the application.

ONX: SALESMAN OPPURTUNITIES PROFILER Sept 2001-Nov 2001
The application aids salesmen to rate their business opportunities according to questionnaires that they fill and uses the ratings to help find the best way to seal their deals. Application built using MS .NET, C#, and MS SQL2000. Performed design and development.



GUESS Jeans- INVENTOTY AND DISTRIBUTION APPLICATION June 2001 - Sept 2001
Inventory, purchase and distribution management Web application that maintains a supply chain of textiles from various suppliers, allocates warehouses, performs inventory management, distributes and redistributes to and from several retailers which includes Purchase approval cycle. The application was built using ASP, COM+, XML, XSL, DHTML, SQL 2000. Performed customization to various parts of the application.

Cirque Du Soleil - CASTING APPLICATION Oct 2000 - March 2001
Web Application that organizes artists around the world and their contribution in entertainment projects with their contracts and their skills and availability, the application was built using ASP, HTML, DHTML, COM+, CDOEX, MS Outlook, MS Exchange 2000, MS SQL 2000 with synchronization between Exchange and SQL that allows the application to work in 2 different environments. I worked in designing the Exchange Schemas, building the CDO and COM+ Code, Building the User Interface and Stored procedures and queries in SQL.


Elections Canada - Web help application May 2000- Aug 2000
Web application that represents an online help for all electors, naming the map to the election rooms within their residence, who are the nominees, what parties they represent, online results for the election, …etc. The application was built using ASP, HTML as the UI and business level and SQL as the back end. My role was to build ASP pages and develop database connectivity with all the information needed by area.

Industry Hub Jan 2000-May 2000
Worked in a group on the development cycle of the front tier (web user interface), the COM+ middle tier, and the SQL back end tier. He was involved in the analysis and design of the project’s SQL relational database, the COM+ object models and architecture, and translating that into source code. I also had a role in performing tests, documenting results to verify accuracy and completeness of programs, in addition to solving and correcting program errors and bugs. I was responsible for managing the team working on the design and layout of the web user interface. The system consists of uniting various businesses onto one platform for a reverse auction allowing companies to state their needs and suppliers to bid on these needs. The system was built using SQL Server for a back end, COM+ for a middle tier and ASP for UI tier. The system also automates certain simple tasks as notifications and database maintenance using COM+ Loosely Coupled events and SQL Server agents.

TELSOFT: IN MOTION - CONTACT MANAGEMENT APPLICATION Sep 1999 - Jan 2000
Performed design and development of the In-Motion Template. Assisted in the application architecture and designed the French version of the software. Transferred the application to a digital dashboard. The technologies used were MS Exchange server, Outlook, VbScript, HTML/ASP and Java Script.
