Tanzania
The Karimjee Jivanjee Group is a well established group with a 175 year plus year history in Tanzania. Their flagship business is Toyota distributorship for Tanzania along with which the other group businesses are Leasing, Bajaj Auto distributorship, Automotive Paints, Tires and other accessories, Generators, Real Estate- Properties and Facilities Management.
•Reporting to Group MD with the group responsibility for Finance, Accounting, MIS, Procurement, IT & Taxation
•Robust banking relationships for group funding
•Managing a tough tax environment with the support of local tax manager
•Implementation of ERP is being undergone and is under my direct supervision
•Robust Procurement department with tightly controlled budgets is crucial to the groups fundamentals
•Implementing group wide reporting strategy for internal and external reporting
•Setting up entities in new geographies successfully with significant control driven remote management tools
•I am also part of the executive committee for Group Strategy and new business development
•I also oversee the Internal Audit under the auspices of the Group MD
•My remit overse/es eight group companies with diverse businesses that operate in tough business operating environment
•I have also been given responsibility for running two group businesses- Bajaj Auto (old) and Automotive Paints (new). My role firmly remains that of the CFO, but such an exposure helps me also grasp the operating business realities
Dussmann Middle East GMBH
The Middle East HUB for Dussmann Group of Germany which is one of world’s largest privately owned services company. The HUB has been set up for the first time in the company history with a vision to set up long term sustainable business across the services portfolio of Dussmann Group
•Reporting to the CEO with responsibility for the running the finance, central procurement and IT functions for the Middle East
•Appointed as
A joint venture between Majid Al Futtaim Group - which successfully introduced the concept of Shopping Malls and hypermarkets in the region - and Dalkia, a world leader in the provision of Facilities and Energy management (Dalkia being part of VEOLIA environment) .
•Reporting directly to the CEO with responsibility for the running the finance and accounting function for Middle East & Levant
•Part of the key Strategic Management Team of MAF Dalkia and advising on Investments, Project Management, Strategic Discussions with Key Clients, M&A opportunities etc
•Closely Working with Banking Institutions and successfully arranging for facilities
•Led the finance team and holding additional responsibility for managing IT and Procurement across the Company
•Ensured that the Company, as a whole, is aligned with the strategic plan that clearly defines priority areas for growth and investment.
•Coordinated the business planning function to ensure consistency across all business units
•Implemented upgraded IT / Financial systems to improve the quality and accuracy of financial reporting
•Played a key role in business development including the coordination of bids and the negotiation of client contracts
•Working closely (with full commercial leadership role) Legal Department on Contracts Management
•Focused handling of major Risk Matters of the Company (Insurances, Risk Reporting etc)
•Handled all Board matters, including preparing and presenting Budget presentations & Investment proposals, worked closely with the Directors and Shareholder Representatives
•Leading ERP Systems design teams across functions (Finance, Procurement, Operations, Projects)
•Ensured implementation of a significantly automated system which caters to delegation of authorities, banking interfaces, fully segregation of authorities, vendor data control and approvals, supplier invoice payment logistics with plans for significant addition to existing capabilities
•Working closely with Statutory Auditors for IFRS based reporting, Taxation matters for various countries, specific assignments for new countries being opened etc
•Created formal Corporate Governance, policies and procedures to cover key financial matters and risks.
•Significant work with Internal Audit Departments of shareholder compliance units for all functions (IT/HR/Finance/Operations/QHSE etc) (both shareholders have world class internal teams)
•Significant exposure to SOX reporting requirements of VEOLIA Envirronment
