Current job is full-time rheumatology consultant post (10 PA). The fixed sessions includes 5 rheumatology clinics per week, two face to face clinics on Tuesday morning (follow up clinic) and Wednesday morning (new patients clinic), and three virtual follow up clinics via phone or Video consultation on Monday, Thursday and Friday morning. On Wednesday after the morning clinic I do joints injection and Ultrasound session. . On Friday afternoon I do Emergency Giant cell arteritis (GCA) clinic where I see patients who have suspected GCA, which involve examination of patient and organize Ultrasound scan of the temporal artery. I am responsible for reviewing all rheumatology referral to our department from other Medical and Surgical specialty and review the rheumatology inpatient.
Once a month on Wednesday lunch time we have journal club, it is opportunity for Audit presentation or teaching interesting article. On the second Tuesday of each month, we have Multidisciplinary team (MDT) meeting, followed by clinical governance meeting. I supervise the rheumatology registrar in both virtual and face to face clinic and also at the ward round. I also supervise four rheumatology specialist nurses and the two nurses in the Day infusion unit.
The rheumatology department formed of 3 full time consultant rheumatologist, in addition to one rheumatology specialist registrar and four rheumatology specialist nurses. There is a close co-operation between the rheumatology department, the physiotherapy and the occupational therapy units.
