I am working with IMDAD Total Site Services as Water and Sanitation Department Pillar in one of the UN missions (UNISFA). IMDAD is responsible of ground Maintenance and Camp Services at UNISFA Camps located within “ABYEI Administrative Area”, Sudan and South Sudan. The major roles and responsibilities is managing and monitoring the whole WATSAN department within UNISFA mission. WATSAN department is responsible of managing and controlling of water supply demand, wastewater management and pluming activities that includes the following: 1- Water Purification Units installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance. 2- Wastewater Treatment Plants installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance. 3- Plumbing activities for maintenance and new installation projects. 4- In addition, closely coordinate with UNISFA Engineering Section for the schedule and maintain a maintenance logbook recording all activities, materials, tools, equipment, manpower including any on-site problems and corrective measures that are undertaken. Regular update of the logbook presents to UNISFA Engineering Section through “Monthly Report”.

Inspect service and repair components of the water treatment plant including water pumps, pipes, water storage vessels, chemical treatment equipment controls, and valves. Ensure an adequate supply of water for human consumption and fire fighting activities. Also perform laboratory tests such as free chlorine, hardness, and heavy metals (sometimes), etc. In addition, prepare work orders for servicing and repairs and arrange for major repairs. Increasingly, establish preventive maintenance program and prepare work activity and work order reports.
