*Perform the daily operation of the sterilization department, abides and enforces all
compliance requirements & policies and these responsibilities in an ethical manner.
*Adheres to hospital policies & procedures including confidentially.
*Utilize proper body mechanics when moving equipment and or supplies that are
necessary to perform essential function to the wards.
*Uses instruments check list to assemble instrument tray.
*Follows manufacturer instruction for operating steam & ETO sterilizer,
washier/decontamination.
*Maintain current knowledge of sterilization practices & standards.
*Assist with updating instrument trays & check list.
*Perform biological monitoring of sterilization loads.
*Demonstrates proper wrapping techniques when preparing wrapped instrument for
sterilization.
*Report broken or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor or department head.
*Works closely with other department to provide care to department supplies to be
sterilized.
*Maintain proper cleaning of endoscope scope.
To provide optimum patient care through effective cleaning, preparation, processing and sterilization of instruments and equipment’s for Theaters, Wards and Departments.

*To provide inventoried supplies and equipment to customer areas.
*To promote better patient care by providing prompt and accurate service.
*To provide supplies of sterile linen packs, basins, instruments, and other sterile items.
*To maintain an accurate record of the effectiveness of the cleaning, disinfecting, and
sterilizing processes.
*To strive for uniformity and simplicity in the trays and sets that the department
provides.
*To maintain an adequate inventory of supplies and equipment.
*To monitor and enforce controls necessary to prevent cross infection according to
infection control policies.
*To establish and maintain sterile processing and distribution standards.
*To stay abreast of developments in the field and to implement changes as needed to stay
current with new regulations and recommended practices.
*To review current practice for possible improvements in quality or services provided.
*To provide consulting services to other departments in all areas of sterile processing and
distribution, including in- service education programs, review policies and procedures,
and implementation of new processes.
*Perform receiving, storing and issuing of stock items.
*Participate in cycle count / physical count activities.
*Perform stock materials packaging, cleaning, staging and delivery as requires by his
immediate supervisor.
*Perform safe storage of materials in accordance with the department established policies
and procedures.
*Ensure that issued materials are delivered to the staging / delivery point area for timely
delivery.
*Ensure all materials are handled in safe & proper manner.
*Maintain timely, accurate documentation and proper system data input for all activities
performed.
*Initiate documentation to maintain accurate records on any changes in the on hand
quantities.
*Check and clean the computer before using.
*Labeling the serial number of the dick.
*Encoding the production output.
*Developed and trained personnel to assume higher level responsible and orient new
staff.
*Instruct personnel involving new equipment and products and provides in service
instruction.
*Keep subordinates informed if there is a current change affecting computer machines.
*Prepares required reports that are accurate, complete and submitted in timely manner.
