. The aim of the visit was to draft a report including a list of recommendations to Jordan’s
Prime Minister. The Study Visit included an overview of the Danish Consumer Legislation, the
Consumer Ombudsman, the cooperation and sharing responsibilities between the Ministry of
Economic and Business Affairs and the National Consumer Agency, the Consumer Complaint Board,
market Studies, and the membership of the Danish Consumer Council. Dr Rania drafted and
submitted a report highlighting the importance of transparency, whistle blowing, building capacity of
citizens on social accountability and the rights of consumers. She recommended that the government
and the CSOs and the Consumer Protection Organization in Jordan should work together to help
consumers receive better services, and that consumers use a consumer complaints portal web base
system linked with the government to receive citizens complains. At last she recommended adopting
the UN guidelines for consumer protection. As well, since 2007 Rania has focused on Civil and
CSOs’ empowerment; through building their capacity on health related issues and on advocacy,
mainly to involve them in the decision making process with a main focus to improve access to
medicines and access to proper healthcare services.
