• Set strategic direction including process design, policy development, spend management controls, technology enablement, functional requirements and global implementation support. Participate in planning sessions with the National Offices to implement process improvement within an assigned process area (finance).
• Review and Lead the design, document and validate future-state processes in the Shared Service Center through process design workshops. Lead the data / information collection from the respective SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) to map current activities to the new business model and identify opportunities for service level improvement, streamlining and automation. Develop and lead a Virtual Network of SME’s who can support the work stream / act as their country representative in key decisions.
• Trained Finance and Supply Chain staff in more than 25 countries to align with the new processes and technology with the implementation of Procurement system, Accounts Payable Processes and Shared Service Center.
• Developed and improved Training Materials required for Country Offices and Shared Service Center Training on Accounts Payable and General Accounting. Designed enhanced methods to transfer knowledge to Shared Service Centers and Country staff to continue business activities with improved skills. Supported in developing/improving a central repository platform (in Microsoft SharePoint) where various training materials could be stored and accessed conveniently.
• Closely worked with Enterprise Systems and Solutions (Global IT) team, Project Implementation team and Shelby Group (Project Consultant) for data validation, verification and integration testing (both Test and Production environments) between SunSystems (Financial System) and Coupa (Procurement System).
• A part of the team that assesses and evaluates the implementation of RPA (Robotic Process Automation) in the Shared Service Centers to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the Shared Service operations.
• Coordinated the implementation of an ERP system for the company mainly for Project Management, Procurement, Finance, HR Management, and Fixed Assets. Played a pivotal role in implementing a Corporate Strategy for the company, evaluating the prevailing systems.
• Ensure the completeness and accuracy of all financial information of the company and prepare Management Information as and when required. Liaison with the external parties such as Clients, Suppliers, Government institutions, and Auditors. Liaison with banks to get facilities such as bank guarantees, LCs and overdraft and provide required supportive documents.
• Forecast future fund requirements and prepare cash flow statements for a smooth fund management and allocation of funds for the projects being executed. Monitoring expenses for different projects and provide information for better decision making.
• Monitoring Fixed Assets located in different project sites and ensure that the system and registers are updated with the movements/transfers of assets and allocation of expenses to the relevant project.
• Participate in developing Finance Strategy and Implementation Plans, playing a vital roll in linking both the Field and Head Office. Monitored the strategy implementation, providing feedback to Top Management and taking corrective measures.
• Preparation of Annual Budgets as per the guidelines from International Office and the Strategy Goals for Head Office and preparation of Budget Guidelines for the Field. Maintain all correspondence with other Departments, field, regional and International Office on Budget Kits.
• Roll out new initiatives set up by South Asia and Pacific Regional Office & International Office. Participate in the development and assessment of new procedures for newly implemented projects and update of existing procedures and manuals with new updates.
• Monitor Zonal Accountants working under different Funding Streams on their routine work, Capacity assessment & Gap analysis, Development & Implementation of Capacity Building Plans.
• Monitoring monthly payroll transactions (additions, deductions, taxes, locations of employees etc.) with the Payroll System & Payroll Accountant and ensure that all the inputs have been updated in the monthly ledger. Monitoring the issues in the Payroll System (HCM - a web-enabled system) with the HR Department and taking corrective measures.
• Ensure Monthly Finance and Management Reports processed with proper consolidation of all Field and Head Office data.
Checking the Accuracy and completeness of all Field Data before uploading to the Accounting System (SUN System)
Check the control accounts to ensure the correct process of both Filed and Head Office Data.
Allocation of Direct and Indirect Overhead expenses to relevant cost centers using relevant cost drivers.
Preparation of Finance Reports, check the accuracy and forward to Regional Office for reference.
Preparation of Management Reports and Presentations to the Top Management.
• Responsible for liaison with outside parties as banks, auditors, head office, debtors and creditors. Responsible for data entry, preparation of financial reports, preparation of all sorts of supportive documents, vouchers and preparation of Management Reports, reconciliation for bank accounts, debtors and creditors.
• Responsible for handling of creditors according to the available fund flow and deciding the credit period for the debtors considering their financial strength and controlling the company overhead to meet the Budget.
• Responsible for maintaining the level of inventory with minimum holding cost and deciding the price of stock considering the size of the demand. Monitoring the inventory in the warehouses and methods to easily verify the physical inventory with the books. Implementing an appropriate GRN/GIN system for the warehouses to monitor the proper moments of inventory.
• Handling the finalization of month end General Ledger (Accounts related to the General Accounts Department), handling the year end Audit (Part of the General Accounts Department of Central Finance Co.) and Handling the year end Audit (Accounting matters of Central Securities and CF Insurance Brokers)
• Assisting in preparation of Quarter & Annual Accounts and Published Accounts for company shareholders, monitoring and assisting in accounting tasks in Branches.
• Responsible for Liaison with outside parties as Banks, Auditors, Branches, debtors and creditors. Responsible for Preparation of Management Reports, Bank Reconciliation Statements of City Office and all City Office controlled Branches, monitoring data entry, monitoring and updating of Fixed Assets System and Fixed Assets Register of City Office and City Office controlled Branches, updating and maintaining records for debtors on Term Loans and Pledge Loans.
• Monitoring & Supervision of General Finance Department’s staff and assisting the implementation of a computerized system for CF Insurance Brokers (Pvt.) Ltd.
CBA (Certified Business Accountant) is a designation awarded by CA Sri Lanka after the completion of relevant examinations and practical training. (Examination was completed in 2001 and the designation was awarded in 2013)
B.Sc. (Accountancy) Special Degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. This is a four-year full time course held in English medium.
