GHD is a multi-disciplinary firm with HQ in Australia, and a global footprint.
As a Technical Director reporting to the Head of Business Unit, I serve as a team operations leader managing and coordinating team’s day to day activities and planning. As part of my role I am heavily involved in project delivery as a Project Manager, and Lead Design Architect.
Aedas is a branded architectural firm with HQ in Hong Kong, and offices in the M.E. and UK.
As associate reporting to the director, I served as project leader designing and managing the coordination of local projects. My recent projects span the UAE and Saudi Arabia where I have worked with some of the Region's biggest developers. Within the UAE my mixed-use residential and education projects have been developed from concept to tender stages, including full Authorities approvals.
Hyder Consulting, which was absorbed by Arcadis, is a multi-disciplinary firm with a global footprint.
Joining a newly formed architecture team in Doha, I was responsible for the delivery of several projects, alongside a number of competitions and tender proposals. These projects were highly inter-disciplinary and developed alongside in-house engineers. This posting was very beneficial as it greatly expanded my knowledge of MEP and structural systems.
I was supported by a small in-house technical team, while managing the development of large packages from the overseas production centre in Manila. This demanded precise workflow planning and process control, and was very profitable at a project level.
Foster+Partners is a premium globally recognized architectural firm with HQ in London, and offices globally.
For 5 years I was involved in a range of landmark projects in capital cities around the world. As an expert on detailing I was primarily responsible for the development of internal and facade packages, and would lead and mentor teams of four. During this time I also spent a significant amount of time on-site and was involved in preparing method statements for construction and maintenance, reviewing shop drawings and snagging. This experience gave me a strong ability to trouble-shoot, avoid project delays and mitigate against cost escalation.
My experience at Foster's broadened my architectural awareness of how space works and performs at different scales. I learnt the ability to move from the small, fine grain that I explored on smaller Portuguese developments to the mega scale constructed by Foster's. I also broadened my knowledge of material usage and climatic design.
At Miguel Arruda’s I was involved in a variety of medium and small scale projects in Portugal where I worked from design development stages to construction. This experience gave me initial exposure to the full scope of architectural services and a breadth of architectural typologies. As a junior architect I was primarily responsible for basic conceptual input, drafting, coordinating with consultants, liaising with the client and quantity surveyors, as well as site inspections and snagging. During this period I gained a significant amount of exposure to detailing and material specification limited budgets. I also was involved several projects which focused on vernacular design and construction principles. This experience has proven useful when reviewing and discussing architectural design in other southern countries and regions.
