The business spans nine verticals: Construction, Heat transfer, Marine Engineering, Mobility, Hospitality, General Industrial, Oil & Gas, Environmental Services, and Information Technology.

A partial list of achievements over the last five years includes:

1) Design and build the first-ever indigenous multi-purpose boats in Oman

2) Design and build Oman's largest rooftop solar plant

3) Install and commission the first cable car in Oman.

4) Scale up a marine engineering business from USD 2 million annually to over USD 25 million.

I led a 20-member Vertical Markets team to unlock new business opportunities by developing integrated solutions combining multiple product offerings from the three businesses of Ingersoll Rand. As a core member of the India Leadership Team, my role also extended to strategic account management, developing partnerships, and heading the 2012 SHRM® award-winning Entrepreneur Creation Program.

Key Achievements

1) Conceptualized and developed a Vertical market strategy to create four new vertical markets that have generated an additional pipeline of US$ 2.5m for the current year and have a combined potential of more than US$ 50 m over the next two years.

2) Turned around a struggling Entrepreneur Creation Program to deliver a 40% success rate. Selected, equipped & mentored 18 talented individuals, 8 of whom have become Entrepreneur Partners and formed companies that will generate additional revenues of US$ 5 m/year for Ingersoll Rand.

Country Manager - Gas Engines at General Electric

Led the GE gas engines business, including Jenbacher, Waukesha engines, and ORC-based heat recovery systems for India and Srilanka. Role extended across sales, commercial operations, development & implementation of strategic growth initiatives, base cost, and channel management.

Key Achievements

1) Led the GE operating rhythm for the Gas engine business, including strategic planning, annual operating plans, talent, and organizational development to build a US$ 25 m business. The fleet on the ground doubled, and business grew at 31% CAGR between 2009 & 2012.

2) Identified and developed multiple strategic initiatives to leverage GE’s portfolio of technologies to create new opportunities for the business. One such successful enterprise, in combination with GE gasification, has created a new worldwide market worth US$ 150 m/year.

3) Worked closely with the Govt. relations team to position relevant GE technologies as enablers to advance the renewable energy agendas of India and Srilanka. Advocated key policy initiatives enabling an ecosystem of alternative energy technologies to thrive in India.

Global Head - Biomass Appliances at British Petroleum

As a core member of the ECM global leadership team, led an IChemE® & US EPA award-winning start-up business that delivers safe, clean, and affordable energy solutions for consumers earning US $ 1-4 /day through innovative business models and products across India, China, Vietnam, & South Africa.

Key Achievements

1) Successfully developed and implemented a product strategy across India, China & Vietnam that led to the creation of a profitable business currently worth more than US$ 50m. More than half a million consumers have acquired these products in India alone.

2) Pioneered a new fuel category of “biomass pellets” by developing the specifications and manufacturing technology.

Senior Brand Development Manager - PureIt at Hindustan Lever Limited

As a core leadership team member, led the development and launch of PureIt® Unilever’s first foray into the water purification business. The business has since expanded to Mexico, Indonesia, Vietnam, Brazil & China, and the current revenues from this business exceed US$ 250m. Role extended across strategy, business model, technology and product development, supply chain & marketing.

Key Achievements

1) Successfully created a business opportunity of US$ 1 billion by developing and commercializing five products. More than 8 million units of the main product have already been sold so far in India.

2) Led the innovation management team through concept generation, concept selection, prototyping, testing, and design lock for the national launch of PureIt - Unilever’s first foray into water purification. The device is India's first-ever gravity-fed water purifier to be certified by the US EPA.

3) Spearheaded a 30-member team, including 3rd party vendors, that developed and commissioned an integrated supply chain for water purifiers to serve global demand.

4) Performed an internal consultant role; advised the company on innovation technologies, product logic, and margin improvement initiatives. Worked with the project director to recommend investment options aligned with brand strategy and innovation plans.

Manufacturing Manager at Hindustan Lever Limited

Led the manufacturing operations of a 170-member detergent manufacturing plant that generated US$ 150m/year revenues in a role that extended to supply chain planning & optimization, driving strategic initiatives and liaison with external regulatory bodies.

Key Achievements

1) Successfully implemented “Total Productive Maintenance, ” a Japanese lean manufacturing strategy. The plant achieved an overall productivity improvement of 40% over three years and was the first-ever detergent plant in South Asia to be accredited with TPM Part I award.

2) Successfully negotiated a win-win long-term settlement agreement with the workforce to ensure a vibrant workplace.

3) Conceptualized and implemented an automated process control system for manufacturing detergent bars which improved workforce and machine productivity by 35%. This system was later replicated across several factories, leading to annual savings of US $ 2.5 m for the company.
