After being one of the 6 VTS operators during the port construction works, Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi (The Khalifa Port and Industrial Zone (KPIZ) project is one of the world’s largest green-field port and industrial zone development project) and part of the port start up port control team. Initially working with chartered tugs from Svitzer later own ADPC tugs. VTMS system Kongsberg / Norcontrol.
Monitor/plan vessel movement to minimized delay in Abu Dhabi’s new port, Khalifa Port. Collecting necessary information and documents needed for each call, intensive coordination with the port users’ planning departments and vessel agents; ADT container terminal, EMAL bulk jetty, ADPC-Operations all other vessels.
Coordinate with assigned Pilots and other marine unit for berthing and sailing. Prepare vessel’s report for billing purposes.
Report and inform Harbor Master of incidents.
Traffic: container vessels, bulk carriers, general cargo, bunker barges, tug-barge combinations, navy vessels, large yachts.
Monitor and advice traffic, weather condition, oil spill response and safety of all units and person offshore in general. Monitor all diving operation in the work site. Implement safety policies of the port construction contractor KPMC, a consortium of Boskalis and Archirodon, through the instruction from the Port Harbor Master.
Traffic initially construction works related like dredgers, barges, tugs, workboats, etc. augmented with bulk vessels for the bulk jetty which became operational.
