Serving as Junior Tunnel Engineer at Neelum Jhelum Consultants \[JV between MWH-Int, NORPLAN, NESPAK, ACE & NDC\] Muzaffarabad, AJK, Pakistan in construction management team
The prime job responsibilities are:
Supervision of excavation and support work of power house cavern (137*25*47) and transformer hall cavern (150*17*21). Designing of rock support (shotcrete, fully cement grouted rock bolts, fully cement grouted expansion shell rock bolts, wire mesh, steel ribs, lattice girders, spilling bolts and canopy pipes) after evaluating rock mass quality on basis of Q-system. Planning for excavation methodology (excavation with drill & blast or jackhammer, full face or heading-benching excavation) and pre-excavation support (spilling bolts, canopy pipes) on the basis of probe hole data and Q-system. On the basis of probe hole data and rock condition designing of underground blasting parameters (powder factor, round length) with non electric initiation system on the basis of probe hole data and rock condition. Supervision and monitoring of power house and transformer hall cavern excavation sequence, rock support, installation/grouting of extensometer, convergence station, bar anchor, stand anchor. Preparation of cracks mapping, daily shift report, daily progress report, contractor daily planned versus actual progress which is further used in evaluating time loss analysis, two cycle chart, long wall mapping for submission to RE, CRE and PM. Quality assurance of shotcrete is carried out by bond test, Tube test for rock bolts grouting, Pull out test for strand anchor/bar anchor and cracks support on the basis of geological condition. Instrumentation and monitoring, including extensometers and convergence points. Remained involved in in-situ testing hydro-jacking, hydro-fracturing and over coring. Prevent slope failure by inspection of slope and crack observation. Mapping and joint study of tunnel. Technical assistance to contractor to improve advance rate. Site supervision and controlling safety.
Description of the duties and responsibilities:
Calculation of drainable surplus for Drainage network design, Hydraulic design of drainage network of total length of 300km consisting of 50 no. surface and seepage drains. Design of hydraulic structures on the drains such as Village Road Bridges, Watercourse crossings, pipe inlets, aqueducts, syphons, field drains, subsurface pipe drains etc. Preparation of tender documents, tender drawings, Engineers’ estimate and PC-1 of the project.
