Clinical Duties and Responsibilities
•Provides direct patient care to pediatric through geriatric patient populations
•Ensures a patient focused approach in patient care and collaborates with multidisciplinary care as necessary.
•Assess patient’s physiological status in the immediate postoperative psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment
•Plans nursing care action according to Assessment. Maintains and establishes patent airway when necessary.
•Intervenes effectively and efficiently to facilitate recovery and prevent complication, Administers Medications as ordered
•Evaluates Nursing care done and adjust intervention according to patient’s needs.
•Documents and records nursing care and interventions done as necessary. Communicates any untoward events to Anesthetist and surgeons
•Assesses and plans care to determine discharge needs and communicates with the Anesthetist
•Hands over plan of care and nursing interventions done, patient's special considerations needed and expected complications of surgical procedure.
•Teaches or educates patient as necessary with regards to health maintenance according to scope of practice.
•Supervises PACU Nursing staff and ensures that patient care is delivered in accordance to the policies established by the Hospital.
•Provides input to executive decision making as necessary to improve patient care. Informs staff at all times of any changes in the Department.
•Participates in performance improvement activities in the Nursing Division - Vital signs Competency and Medication safety Assessor, Developed the PACU orientation Package and Specific Unit Competency
•Provides education to the staff or Orienties based on the clinical expertise
•Allocates staff to promote efficient, effective and compassionate delivery of nursing care.
•0R PPG Link Nurse - Has written the Patient Positioning Policy and Procedure in OR.
• Participates on the acute pain service rounds as necessary.
