Remi Adebayo

I obtained a Bachelor of Arts Education degree holder from one of Nigeria's leading federal government-funded universities - Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, where I majored in Fine Arts and graduated in 1999. Before this degree, in 1994, I obtained a post-secondary school teaching certificate - Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) with Fine Arts as my major. This certificate qualified me to teach Fine Arts, at least, up to Junior Secondary School in my country, Nigeria. For over 20 years, I have practised journalism with graphic art simultaneously. Immediately after my mandatory National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, which is a year-long paramilitary service for Nigerian graduates of universities and Higher National Diploma where I taught art for a year, I joined Victory College, Ikeja Lagos where I taught art and was appointed the head of the department before joining one of Nigeria's foremost media organizations, the Independent Communication Network Limited, publishers of The News, PM News and defunct Tempo magazines as a Graphic Artist in 2001. I later joined Independent Newspapers where I worked between 2002 and 2005 as a reporter, even while combining Graphic Design as Layout Artist as a major role. I had a break from media to practice art-related enterprises, but later returned to journalism in 2012 when I worked as a Reporter, Senior Reporter, Assistant and full Editor with different magazines and online newspapers. I am proud to belong to a few reporters to report, via investigation, the management and distribution of palliative materials to poor, vulnerable and downtrodden citizens in two Nigerian states while the country was under total lockdown during the absolute lockdown that greeted the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. With consistent years on the job, I currently edit an online newspaper - The Crux. With the mix of my experience as an art teacher, graphic designer and writer, I am most confident that my employer would find in me a resourceful employee who can deploy these skills to multitask and offer the best services in any of these roles.
