• Assigned in CastHouse Department, primary job to assemble, dismantle, lubricates mechanical equipment, systems, static and rotating components. To dismantle and replace various hydraulic / pneumatic and rotating equipment to specification. To carry out preventive and routine maintenance. Directly report to Area Engineer, supervised technicians on their daily activities.
• Attend to equipment breakdowns and planned maintenance works, ensure that all maintenance works are carried out in accordance with the safety procedures. Ability to test, fault find and diagnose failures on mechanical plant and equipment.
• Wear required PPE, body harness and follow safe work practices; report near misses / incidents; identifying and evaluating potential hazards / existing safety problems, suggesting solutions and recommending suitable corrective measures.
• Use the systems of PTW (Permit to Work); LOTOV (lock out tag out verification); ISA and RA (Isolation Authority and Receiving Authority) before performing the job.
• Work with testing and measuring instruments, hand and power tools, special tools and exposed to intensive heat, noise and conditions with regard to dirt, grease, fumes and oil..
• Able to read and understand basic drawings, schematic diagrams, calculations, service manuals and job content instructions. Knowledge in SAP, comply in QHSE policies
• Conduct Corrective / Preventive Maintenance on Anode Baking Plant and Paste Plant, Carbon Department at QATALUM Smelter.
• Repair and troubleshooting when Breakdown Maintenance occur, conduct thorough investigation and obtain the root cause of the problem. Determines the history and the condition of the equipment before the failure happens.
• Secure Work Permit from the ABP control center in every task, do the Pre-Start Task Analysis to understand the task; to obtain if there is a documented procedure (SOP) or work instruction available for the task; to identify the hazards / risks associated with performing the task; to be aware if the personnel was trained, competent and authorized to do the task, to know the plans and controls that will be implemented to reduce the risk of conducting the task.
• Secure Hot Work Permit for hot work jobs such as welding, cutting, grinding; also secure Crane Hazard Access Entry Permit for working in cranes.
• Secure Confined Space Entry Permit for working in confined spaces like coke and alumina powder silos, baking furnace basements with limited space of entry, also secure Working at Heights Permit for working in heights. Use of safety body harness.
• Comply with the Administrative Controls such as PSTA, SOP, OPL, Work Permits, Hazard Analysis, Safety Audits and Physical Inspections.
• Comply with the Hazardous Energy Control by means of Lock-out System to isolate the equipment or machine and to protect the personnel from injury or damage caused by unexpected release of an energy source or start-up of machinery.
• Prepares and confirms all the scheduled PM’s and CM’s done in a whole week. Also prepares notification report on all abnormalities found during inspections.
• Use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) helmet, safety shoes, safety clear glass, respirator, earplug, fire resistant upper garment and trouser, leather gloves.
• Modify some fabricated parts attached to the machine for improvement with the job order coming from the mechanical design engineer. Following the drawings and materials specification design by the engineer, we do some machining, welding, cutting, grinding, boring, etc.
•Manage and supervise working schedules and tasks of maintenance engineers and technicians. Trains newly hired production maintenance staff. Planning and scheduling preventive maintenance; shutdowns; periodic inspection and replacement of consumable parts in yearly, quarterly, monthly and weekly basis. Coordinates with the Purchasing Department to arrange and request of contractors for lifting and set up of newly acquired machines coming from the vendor.
• Operation and maintenance of Electro-Plating, Mold Press Injection and Auto Tie Bar Cut machines which includes installation, overhauling, assembly, data teaching, alignment and set-up of new parts.
• Conduct Corrective Maintenance/Preventive Maintenance and on the spot checking of all electrical, mechanical parts and all items in the machine maintenance check sheet.
• Installation of water and chemical pipe line from the main source supply going to the reserve bath of the Plating Machine.
• Perform calibration functions and overhauling to maintain standard operation and enhance machine efficiency.
• Prepare engineering drawings and specifications, schematic diagrams, load calculations.
• Responsible in purchasing of mold tools and spare parts control and process budget costing and reporting. Coordinates with the purchasing department for the quotation, PR purchase request, request to contact bidders or fabricators for the project.
• Conducts cause-analysis and formulate immediate counter measures for re-occurring machines problems especially production and quality related. Life cycle analysis.
• Knowledgeable of 7 QC tools, 4M, 5’s, International Organization for Standardization ISO 9000 and ISO 14001 certification.
• Support the lead mechanical systems commissioning engineer in the execution of testing, work in the field to commission and test mechanical equipment associated with mission critical facilities.
• Implement continuous Improvement (Kaizen) and Design of Equipment Parts and Components.
• Implement Yield-Increase Activity and gather data supplement for progress condition.
Prepares detailed maintenance report after maintenance job as well as production and progress report.
