Joined as Passenger Services Agent on 21st April 1999, later promoted as Airport Duty Officer on
22nd September 2002. Duties assigned were:
• To supervise and assist GHA during flight operations.
• Managing flight disruptions, diversion, cancellations and technical delays.
• Act as a “Local Performance Checker” to check the performance of GF/GHA at ISB station
and submit report to HDQ for audit purposes.
• To deal with special cases like Excess Baggage, denied boarding, down grading etc.
• To ensure implementation of rules/regulation and new procedures received from HDQ time to time.
• Timely closure of check-in counters to ensure on time departures.
• To ensure on time performance and punctuality.
• To pay interim relief to the passengers for mishandled baggage and process their baggage claims.
• Keep close coordination and good relationship with other agencies/Airlines.
• To ensure availability and serviceability of office equipment.
• Maintain log book and provide post flight data to headquarter.
In the absence of Airport Manager, I was re designated as “Acting Airport Manager” from September 2005
till January 2007, following additional duties were assigned:
• Preparation of budget for airport.
• To ensure operations are within the budget at the airport.
• Maintain staff training record and arranging of required training for the staff..
• Processing and verification of Invoices.
• To improve/maintain Customer Services in accordance to Gulf Air standard.
• Emergency drills and safety in the work place.
• Representing Gulf Air at airport AOC meetings.
Initially joined as a Traffic Assistant on 1st May 1993 and was promoted Assistant Traffic Officer and then Traffic Officer within a period of seven months. The work assigned was:
• Independently supervision of flight operations and training of junior traffic staff in domestic and International passenger handling procedures.
• Ramp coordination regarding availability/serviceability of equipment required and its positioning at Bay well before arrival of the aircraft.
• Coordination with Cargo department for proper loading/unloading cargo.
• To ensure proper dispatch of telexes and preflight/post flight documentation.
I have started my career with SAPS, a Ground Handling Agency on 1st Dec 1991 as a Traffic Assistant and gained practical experience in the following:
- Passenger Handling / Check-in procedures
- Weight/Coupon control / Baggage Segregation
- Loading/unloading / Baggage Lost and Found
