• The Block Plant is a chrome ore and coke fines agglomeration plant set up with the primary objective of reducing arc furnace eruptions, thus improving operational safety, whilst utilizing the vast stocks of fines that inevitably accumulate at the mines and smelter.
• The Smelter Ore Processing Plant is a chrome ore fines upgrading plant (improvement of the grade of Cr2O3)
Duties:
• Implementation of given plans, provision of leadership to and coordination of shift self directed work output teams, and ensuring that allocated resources are utilized to meet planned targets cost effectively in line with the annual business plan.
• Ensuring a safe work environment by conducting training and reviews of safe job procedures and enforcement of safety regulations so as to achieve company set safety targets. (NOSA)
• Promotion of customer confidence through implementation of the required quality management system to ensure production of high quality products.
• Participation in process improvement initiatives through optimisation of plant operations.
• Carrying out of root cause analysis on deviations from the trend that affect quality of work.
• Reporting all machinery faults and breakdowns and making callouts.
• Conducting Planned Job Observations.
• Chairing SHE meetings.
• Co-ordinating the shift Emergency Preparedness Plan.
• Conducting SHE inspections.
• Recording and carrying out incident and accident investigations.
• Maintaining the shift Personnel Protective Equipment/Clothing register.
• Enforcement of the correct use of Personnel Protective Equipment/Clothing and adherence to proper work procedures.
• Induction of new employees.
• Ensuring that deficiencies picked from daily, weekly and monthly inspections and checklists are closed off timeously.
