• Employed as a (Stand alone) construction manager on a UK funded project. Financed by the UK government department for international development (DFID)
• Responsible for remotely managing 3 projects over a wide geographical area.
• Projects are for the Somaliland police. 2 x new buildings at 2 locations, and 1 x refurbishment, at a separate location.
• My obligations include but are not limited to:
• Visiting each site once a week to check on progress, quality of works, measurement of completed works, and agreeing any stage payments due.
• Ensuring projects are managed as per the contract documents
• Checking BOQ's (Bills of quantities) contractors have submitted with tender documents, for the bidding process
• Ensuring contractor complies and builds as per contract drawings
• Forwarding weekly reports to head ofice
• Ensuring contractors produce samples, or specification of materials or products for my approval, prior to ordering or purchasing.
• Establishing a safe working environment for all construction personnel, and the public.
• Liaising with police station commanders to ensure good cooperation between all parties
• Informing operations manger of my deployment strategy for the projects, so that he can organise transport, hotels, armed security, and interpreter.
