• Thorough knowledge of Recycling of waste oil (Re - Refining) using vacuum distillation / evaporation process using a Wiped Film evaporator (WFE) with clay based filtration.
• Involved in commissioning of a state of the art Clay polishing system (CPS) which improves the colour and removes odour of lube base oil.
• Involved in reviewing detailed design engineering drawings and other technical documents to ensure compliance with applicable requirements and design objectives.
• Prepared PFD's and C&E diagrams and involved in process simulations and calculations.
• Provided support and troubleshooting assistance to production and maintenance departments.
• Coordinated and participated in Process safety reviews such as HAZOP analysis.
2010-11 Qatar Lubricants (QALCO)
Junior Chemical Engineer - Grease and Lubricant Plant (12 months)
• Involved in day to day testing of various grades of lubricants for Pour point, flash point, foaming characteristics, viscosity, ICP Emission spectrometry, Absorption spectrometer, etc.
• Involved in the grease plant start-up and production of grades of greases mainly Lithium Complex based grease and Bentonite clay grease.
• Core understanding and knowledge of current standards, codes and design guidelines
• Well versed with ASTM testing standards for lubricants and grease.
2010 Industrial training at Gulf Laboratories - Mannai Corporation, Qatar (2 months)
• Conducted physical and chemical tests on cement and concrete, soil and rock analysis, potable and waste water testing for chemical and environmental analysis.
• Performed chromatography and spectrometric tests for analysing pollutants in water.
2009 Internship at BASF Construction Chemicals, Dubai (1 week)
• Worked with construction chemicals, testing methods, process equipments including mixers, agitated vessels and storage equipments.
• Training at the administrative section, product planning and purchasing section.
Project titled“Adsorption of Chromium from tannery waste water”.
• Experimented on various adsorption mediums like blue green algae and fluidized bed reactor with glass beads, for the removal of Chromium from tannery water.
• Calculated efficiencies of adsorption in each medium and found BG Algae to be a very efficient.
2007 In plant training at NIGP (National Industrial Gas Plant), Qatar (1 week)
• Broadened knowledge of working of gas plants which include Oxygen, Nitrogen and Argon.
2011-12 The University of Manchester, Manchester, M13 9WJ, United Kingdom MSc Advanced Chemical Process Design Result: Merit (2:1) with distinction in Research. (US CGPA equivalent: 3.61 on 4) • Dissertation on "Improving heat integration in waste to energy plants". Simulated a typical waste to energy incineration plant in Aspen Hysys and devised pathways for extracting heat and improving efficiency. Investigated specialised pathways like Organic Rankine cycle. Presented Carbon capture and storage techniques (CCS) . Overall efficiency increase of 3 to 4 %. • Developed an excellent knowledge of key concepts in design of chemical processes and equipment, especially distillation, energy and reaction systems design and selection of utilities, with computer aided design, simulation and optimisation.
2005-10 National Institute of Technology (NIT), Trichy-650014, India Bachelor of Technology, Chemical Engineering Result: First class with cumulative GPA of 7.2/10. • Final year Dissertation on "Manufacture of Styrene by dehydrogenation of Ethyl Benzene". Investigated Mobil Badger process for production of Ethyl Benzene, and designed an adiabatic honey comb catalyst reactor for Styrene production.
