Provide proactive cost and change management support to the delivery teams within Sustaining Capital group. Currently responsible for portfolio reporting of 3 Rio Tinto’s Smelting sites (Gladstone, Tasmania, New Zealand). Direct reporting to Project Services Manager and provide proactive cost and change management support to the delivery teams across multiple projects for Pacific Operations (Aluminium) projects - OPEX & CAPEX. Daily interaction and forming relationships with internal and external stakeholders at a project level. Role and responsibilities • Functional duties for the daily implementation of project cost and change management across regional programs of projects. This will include: establishing budget, change management, contingency management, cost risk management, cash flow forecast schedule estimates, costs analysis to provide guidance on the final forecast cost, review and valuation of progress payments and reporting. • Assist Project Leads/Managers in managing the Owners cost, provide feedback on projects costs deviation from forecast/plan and alignment to the cost management processes. • Proactively raise areas of concern to the Project Controls Lead and Project Leaders/Managers for potential cost overrun
• Report and provide cost analysis support on assigned Delivery portfolio and on individual projects. • Ensure compliance to the project controls guidelines and procedures • Manage cost assessments and carry out valuations on larger projects, and ensure timely and accurate cost validation, and valuation process. • Project Capitalisation exercise for completed and commissioned project • Facilitate project review meetings and update cost management tools and systems (SAP & BUCS). • Assists in maintaining the integrity of integrated project cost reports • Supports development of regular cost and change management reports, including professional analysis and commentaries. • Assist in the development and update of project cash flow forecasting and estimates at completion. • Maintains the relationship with contracting and project planning stakeholders to provide an informed forecast of the project. • Work with the planners/schedulers, contracts and estimating groups to ensure that implications of changes are well articulated and understood. • Assists with analysing and reporting implications of changes to the Annual Plan and forecast. • Provides technical support to project stakeholders • Providing an independent assessment of the projects progress and estimate at completion.

Senior Cost Controls Responsibilities • Convert sanctioned estimate into a control budget, including system setup in SAP and PRISM G2 to comply with the standard WBS / CBS and project reporting requirements. • Monitoring and control of costs associated with the Project Indirects and Owner’s Team, including manpower, accommodation, vehicle usage, air travel, security, etc. • Monitoring and control of major supplier / vendor costs including CTR management, cost validation and invoice processing/payment. • Support the Contracts and Procurement Team during tender and contract setup to ensure alignment with Santos and contract requirements, including progress measurement, payment claim analysis and invoice processing. • Monitoring and control of costs associated with the Construction Contractor and provide assistance to the Project Team to ensure work and payment complies with the contract. • Setup and maintain the project’s trend program to provide an accurate cost forecast. This includes timely and accurate trending to enable an early warning system for cost increases and minimise the risk of cost overruns. Includes working with the team to estimate impacts of trends and variations. • Monitor and manage the project’s cost and reporting in SAP and Prism. • Month end cost and reporting, including accruals, cost and system reconciliation. • Responsible for managing the project MOC process and the management of outcomes, for example schedule requirements, cost impacts, scope, etc. • Work closely with project functions/disciplines (Approvals, Engineering, Contract & Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and Operations) to ensure alignment with project controls. Reporting • Compile periodic reporting on project work scopes including monthly project reporting, quarterly project reviews and additional ad-hoc reporting requirements. • Ensure reports contain accurate progress updates in relation to the project’s status, including EHS, Approvals, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation and Start-Up of Field Delivery scope in accordance with agreed formats and timeframes. • Liaising with project team representatives, off-project disciplines/functions and contractors to ensure accuracy of reporting.
