1. Checking and preparing all necessary equipment, instruments, sutures, supplies and medications are available for any procedures or surgery.
2. Providing skilled assistance to the surgeon.
3. Monitor the sterility and safety of the surgical field & maintaining an aseptic environment and Infection prevention and control
4. Performing surgical counts in a sterile method and coordinated effort between scrubbed and circulating teams .
5. Assisting with keeping tissues moist, tissue handling and retracting.
6. Routine hygiene a deep clean of the theatre is required the day before use and then damp dusting prior to surgery.
7. Checking environmental controls, such as heating and humidity, are within acceptable levels, (theatre lights, suction, check sterilized packets of instruments are within date and in completely packaging)
8. Waste provisions are provided sharps bin, clinical and domestic waste
9. Organization of equipment and supplies in an appropriate order
10. Cleaning and sterilizing instruments.
