SH 130 Design/Build Austin Texas, $600 million construction costs, Segments 5.1, 5.2 and 6.1 Schematic. SH 130, 27 miles Design-Build construction of a 4 lane toll facility with frontage roads from Austin to San Marcos. The construction of this toll road consists of earthwork, storm sewers, retaining walls, and CRCP. As Engineer for SH130, Worked in roadway design for segments from Austin to south of FM 1185 within the TTC-35 corridor. SH 130 toll highway built to relieve congestion on IH-35. Performed schematic roadway design consisting of horizontal alignments, vertical profiles, cross sections, and earthwork. Calculated roadway super elevation rates for horizontal curves. Designed vertical profiles following the Design Criteria in TxDOT roadway design for the frontage roads and cross streets. Ran preliminary cross sections and calculated ramp gore locations and ramp slopes. calculated vertical clearance of bridges. Used GEOPAK SITE for proposed ground contours for intersection grading details.

IH 10 Orange Texas, PS & E $75 million dollar construction cost estimate for package 2. 4.1 mi. of reconstruction and widening of an interstate facility consisting of grading, lime treated sub grade, cement stabilized base, and continuously reinforced concrete pavement from Adams Bayou on the east limits to the Sabine River Bridge. Evaluated existing topographical features to determine removal quantities. Calculated removal quantities for the entire project. Develop plan sheets for the removal plans. Designed traffic control plans for IH-10 at SH87 and Business 90. I followed the Texas MUTCD to determine lane closure lengths and lane shift tapers as well as use of temporary traffic control devices such as barrels and temporary striping. Additionally, I designed temporary shoring for Adams Bayou. I also calculated temporary asphalt paving quantities.

Job Role: Civil Engineering

Performed engineering related duties using Micro Station J or V8 with GEOPAK in the field of transportation engineering. Worked on the $106 million Design/Build project for SH45 SE a 7.4 mile, four-lane toll road in Austin, Texas. I worked in Roadway design and Drainage design, calculation of ramp gore locations and ramp slopes. I calculated vertical curves following TXDOT roadway design manual. I calculated roadway super elevation rates for horizontal curves, transition lengths for super elevation and vertical clearance of bridges. I used GEOPAK to draw existing ground cross sections and run cross section reports to build TIN files. I have used proposed cross sections to determine constructions limits, estimate needed right of way widths based on construction limits. I used Micro Station to draw Typical Sections for pavement design. I have calculated retaining wall quantities for ramps and main lanes. I assisted in calculation of length of need for metal beam guard fence. I assisted with calculation of intersection sight distances, approach sight triangles and departure sight triangles. Assisted with Quality Assurance/Control for bridge layouts, and plan review of design schematics. I used GEOPAK Drainage to define drainage boundaries, inlet locations, and draw storm sewer profiles. I assisted with weaving analysis to determine adequate weaving lane length. Project- wise administrator and provided IT support, set up of new computers, fixed minor computer issues, and assisted in the set up of the computer network for the SH45 SE project office in Austin, Texas.

Design Schematic Preston Road and Royal Lane in Dallas, Texas this project was a street widening project to add double left turning lanes to Preston Road in Dallas, Texas. I calculated the lane shift taper length on the approach to the intersection. I designed the schematic striping for this project. I calculated the required queue length for the double left turn lanes following TxDOT Roadway Design.

My next project was the $42 million dollar Grayson County SH289, a 12 mile extension from 0.7 mile South of SH56 to FM120, this new construction of a two lane roadway consisted of earthwork, storm sewer, culverts, and retaining walls. I started design at the schematic level and concentrated on the main lane and ramp geometry for SH289 and SH56. I created horizontal chains for ramps, driveways, and main lanes using GEOPAK. I designed vertical profiles for main lanes, ramps and driveways following TxDOT design criteria. I calculated horizontal and vertical curves following TxDOT roadway design. I calculated ramp gore locations. I calculated roadway super elevation rates for horizontal curves. I calculated super elevation transition lengths. I used GEOPAK SITE to prepare proposed ground contours for intersection details. I calculated vertical clearances for bridges at SH56 and US82. I prepared preliminary construction cost estimates for alternate designs of US82 and SH289.

Design schematics for road widening projects in Forney, Texas. FM741 construction cost estimated at $14 million and FM740 construction cost $6.5 million. Both of these projects are adding travel lanes to the current roadway. I created horizontal chains and I designed vertical profiles for the main travel lanes following TxDOT roadway design. I used GEOPAK to generate existing ground cross sections and produce preliminary proposed cross sections.

Performed engineering related duties using Micro Station J with GEOPAK in the field of transportation engineering. Worked on $7, 000, 000 dollar project State Highway 17 from the Reeves/Jeff Davis County line to 14.7 miles south. I have assisted in the preparation of the general notes for plan sets. I used Micro Station J to assist in the preparation of drawings for construction sets. I have used Micro Station J to draw Typical Sections for pavement design, Traffic Control Plan, Title Cover Sheet, Project Layout, Bench Mark Summary Sheet, Vertical and Horizontal Curve Data Sheet, Cross sections for earthwork, Bridge Summary Sheet, Culvert Summary Sheet, Culvert Computations Sheet, Culvert and Bridge Layouts. I worked on $8, 000, 000 dollar project US 67 from the Pecos/Brewster County line to 19.7 miles south. Assisted in collecting data for US67 from as-built and field survey data to calculate horizontal and vertical curves to determine design speed and calculate existing K values, and existing super elevation rates. I have used GEOPAK to draw pattern lines on proposed Horizontal Alignment and obtain existing ground cross sections associated with those pattern lines. I have used GEOPAK to assist in the calculation of culvert flow lines, as well as Horizontal and Vertical profile labeling. I have used GEOPAK to create the vertical alignment and the profile generator to follow the survey data and generate an existing profile. I followed TxDOT design standards to design culvert extensions. I have calculated concrete and steel quantities for a non TxDOT standard concrete box culverts with multiple non Standard boxes (7, 11, 13, 15). I calculated earthwork quantities to include structural excavation quantities for small culverts in cubic yards as well as trench excavation protection quantities in linear feet. I have calculated quantities in linear feet for Class C concrete for extending existing culvert structures. I have calculated quantities for Class B concrete for culvert structures that required concrete riprap. I have calculated culvert wing wall quantities in square feet for cost estimate pay item and plan set. I assisted in construction inspection on SH118 to include Proof Rolling inspection. I calculated areas of driveways and turnouts for pay quantities on SH118. While working seal coat on SH118 I provided calculation of Asphalt distribution quantities (Strapping). I calculated rock aggregate distribution and haul truck payload quantities. Further calculations included batch tickets for Type C concrete and concrete mix design quantities. I calculated striping quantities as well as Type I pavement marking striping inspection. While on the SH118 project I used survey equipment to shoot bench marks and locate elevations for Sub-grade, Base and Finish grade of pavements. I assisted in performing material sampling and testing to include collection of soil samples for sieve analysis and flexural concrete strength tests, collection of base material samples for Tri-Axial analysis and collection and testing of rock aggregate to determine if it met Grade 3 or Grade 4 TxDOT aggregate standards. I have had the HMAC level 1B Roadway Specialist training. I have had Work Zone Traffic Control class room training to include design of temporary traffic control plans and review of the 2003 Texas MUTCD.
