As a nurse in a medical hospital, my responsibilities focus on providing safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care while supporting the healthcare team to ensure effective service delivery. My role requires strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to respond quickly to patients’ needs.
One of my key responsibilities is patient assessment. I evaluate patients upon admission by reviewing their medical history and current condition, and I continue to monitor their vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure. Regular observation helps in identifying any changes in condition early, allowing timely intervention.
Medication administration is a major part of my duties. I ensure that all medications are given safely and accurately, following standard guidelines. I also monitor patients for side effects and educate them about their medications, including their purpose and proper use.
I am responsible for implementing patient care plans in collaboration with doctors and other healthcare professionals. I provide direct care, including assisting patients with daily activities such as feeding, bathing, mobility, and personal hygiene, especially for those who are unable to care for themselves. I always maintain patient dignity and comfort.
Infection prevention and control are essential aspects of my role. I follow strict hygiene practices such as proper handwashing, use of protective equipment, and safe disposal of medical waste. This helps reduce the risk of infections within the hospital.
Accurate documentation is also a critical responsibility. I record all patient information, treatments, and progress clearly and promptly to ensure continuity of care and effective communication among the healthcare team.
In emergency situations, I respond quickly by performing necessary life-saving interventions and assisting in stabilizing patients. My ability to remain calm and act efficiently under pressure is vital in such situations.
Patient education is an important part of my duties. I provide information about health conditions, treatments, and lifestyle changes, helping patients and their families understand and participate actively in their care.
I also act as a patient advocate, ensuring that patients’ rights, needs, and concerns are respected and communicated to the healthcare team. Providing emotional support is equally important, as I offer reassurance and empathy to patients and their families during stressful times.
Effective communication and teamwork are essential in my role. I work closely with doctors, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and quality care. I also assist with procedures, prepare patients for tests, and ensure all processes are carried out safely.
Additionally, I am involved in discharge planning by educating patients on medications, follow-up care, and home management. This helps ensure a smooth transition from hospital to home and reduces the risk of complications.
Overall, my role as a nurse requires dedication, compassion, and professionalism. I am committed to providing high-quality care that meets the physical, emotional, and psychological needs of my patients while contributing positively to the healthcare system.

from accident and emergency presented with issues relating to haematuria and acute renal failure
etc.
