• Consolidation of over 60 subsidiaries that are involved in retail operations (Middle East, Africa, Russia Turkey, CEE etc.) of multi-currency nature under a single Holding Company.
• Responsible for making presentations to the Board of Directors that involves the revenue, profits etc. various businesses of the group like Retail, Property, Trading, Hotels etc. It would also involve identifying brands/ divisions that contribute most to the Group and those that do not and provide suggestion on how to deal with them.
• Tax support for entities spread across 15+ countries including formulating and implementing the Group transfer pricing policies adhering to OECD guidelines and country specific requirements, drafting tax efficient structures for companies in various jurisdictions, tax planning for various business contracts and transactions, preparation for readiness & implementation of BEPS including CBCR, etc.
• Accounting and finalization of investment companies with assets of more than USD 100m in the Group that has quoted, unquoted and other private funds.
• Year end review & analysis of more than 40 financial statements of all the divisions of the Group (Retail, Property, Hotels, Trading, Investment & others) and instructing divisions for appropriate suggestions and remedial measures for the following year i.e. maintaining appropriate equity levels, adjustment of related party balances etc.
• Involved with external consultant/ lawyers in implementing a family governance structure/ office with associated policies and programs (business protection, employment of family in business, education & communication etc.) and finalizing a Shareholders Agreement
• Handled group insurance matters for an interim period and was actively involved in the preparation and settlement of an insurance claim of more than USD 20m
• Preparation of various reports to be presented to the Board. For example, thin capitalization reports, maintenance of a positive equity, analysis of aircraft buy/lease options and successfully negotiated the purchase of a no. of private jet of a combined value of more than USD 100m, maintenance of yacht accounts and approval of its annual budget etc.
