DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Utilize ICD-10 CM to select the diagnosis-related group (DRG) assignments for each case.
Enter coding information into electronic billing system.
Coding high dollar charts such as high length of stay, expensive procedures and treatments.
Identifying mistakes in reports for generating accurate codes.
Reviewing hand written documents of physician for the selection of diagnosis and procedure codes.
Creating queries to physician to clarify doubts such as contradicting documentation of disease and
treatments.
Abstracting the documentation of surgical procedures for the accurate procedure code.
Maintaining the coding accuracy between 92 and 95 percent.
Maintaining the confidentiality of patient’s reports. Review patient histories, surgeries, chart reviews,
consultation and discharge summaries to support codes
