• Joint responsibility with the Pilots for the safety and operational control of flights under his/her guidance.
• Responsible for economic, trainee pilot service and operational control of day to day flight operations.
• Analyze and evaluates meteorological information to determine potential hazards to safety of flight.
• Compute the amount of fuel required for the safe completion of flight according to type of aircraft, distance of flight, maintenance limitations, weather conditions and
minimum fuel requirements prescribed by applicable aviation regulations.
• Prepare flight plans containing information such as maximum allowable takeoff and landing weights, weather reports, field conditions, NOTAMS and many other informational components required for the safe completion of flight.
• Delay or cancel flights if unsafe conditions threaten the safety of Training flights.
• Monitor weather conditions, aircraft position reports (as applicable), and
aeronautical navigation charts status and also to evaluate the progress of flight in
certain conditions.
• Coordinate and be the focal point for Emergency response planning
• Ensure required and applicable briefings are made available to pilots and
trainees
• Update the pilot in command of significant changes to weather or flight plan and
recommends flight plan alternates, such as changing course, altitude and, if
required, enroute landings in the interest of safety and economy in association
with ATC/or using company frequency.
• Originate and disseminates flight information to others agencies as required.
• To support the Operational management in the coordination of operational
planning and become a focal point of contact for Trainee Pilots
• Maintaining all aviation documents as per standards.
Ensure proper dispatch releases are transmitted to flight crew prior to scheduled departures in accordance to department’s operational manual.
