I am responsible for the optical design, simulation, instrument development and testing high value optical instrumentation solutions for the oil and gas industry. My duties includes research and optical instrument development in spectrometer and visual imaging, optical system design, machine vision system design for autonomous natural gas pipeline monitoring.
I participate in advising on future technology development needs, emerging technologies, funding applications, scientific software development, CE, ATEX and laser safety certifications and training and mentoring junior engineers.

Research and Development in Fibre Optic Distributed Acoustic Sensor (DAS)
Research and development of ultra-fast fibre laser for biomedical applications. Building and testing optical fibre Master Oscillator Power Amplifier (MOPA), building supercontinuum (SC) laser utilising MOPA and specialised custom photonic crystal fibre. Design of experiment (DoE) based test process, to batch test SC lasers for accelerated life testing, and failure mode analysis.
Developed automated test hardware and software using LabView, python and also developed custom data analysis software to process large volume data using Python.
My work has helped Fianium in making number of changes in their SC laser product in order to improve performance and longevity.
