major project management consultancy services contract renewed by Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) which is worth approximately £163m every five year’s period. The contract covers consultancy services in project management, front-end engineering and related activities for KOC's upstream oil and gas assets in Kuwait.
Amec Foster Wheeler has a long-term project management contract with KOC and provides consultancy services across a series of projects, from concept through to construction management and execution.
Working as a Lead CSA Design Engineer involved from FEED stage to Bid Evaluation leading to successful award of project. The role was to ensure that the project scope is performed to Company technical and safety standards within the project schedule and budget. This necessitates working closely with Contractors to support and facilitate the success of the project.
Responsibilities included:
• Front End Engineering Design (FEED) Deliverables review, modifications, corrections and production including scope of work, specifications, addenda and criteria, drawings, break down prices, unit rates schedule, technical evaluations, tender check estimate, etc.
• Leading Team of Engineers, surveyors and draftsman to produce in country delegated FEED works ( Pipeline routes and associated pipeline alignment drawings, Overhead power lines Routes coordinating with concerned authorities, Fields Road networks and utilities corridors drawings, etc.)
• Perform Feed Design for Pipe rack Structures, Buildings (Control Buildings, Substations and Guard houses), Process equipment supports, pipe supports, retaining walls. Etc.
• Pre bid site investigations documents including geotechnical investigation, underground utilities survey and site surveys. Including review of submitted reports and communication with client for site reservations.
• Bid process support including responding to bidder queries and clarifications, tender evaluation and Contract award recommendations.
• KOC standards review and development achieving improved designs practices and better specifications
• Participates as a technical expert or arbitrator in contract disputes.
• Provide mentor’s role to develop Kuwaiti Nationals and junior engineers for their effective integration and career development.
• Perform other Design works for Amec Engineering Services in Shuiba including Design of Refinery Piperacks, shelters and foundations designs.
• Structural integrity evaluation and rehabilitation assessments.
• Consultancy technical support for civil, structural and architectural works
Responsibilities included:
• Lead a team of Engineers and draftsmen to achieve the delegated works and coordinate with other offices teams.
• Structural analysis and design for structural steel structures buildings and components including equipment support buildings, equipment shelters, process buildings
• Structural analysis and design for concrete buildings, buildings foundations, equipment/vessels/tanks foundations, and underground structures.
• Concrete pavement Design,
• Storm water drainage system design
• Dynamic analysis and design for structures under high seismic loads and/or machine vibration loads to reduce/eliminate resonance and to meet the requirement of international standards.
• Pipe rack and supports analysis and structural design,
• Upgrading and rehabilitation for complex existing plants structures including collection of historical data, estimations of loads and stresses, system optimization analysis.
• Participated in 3D model, risk assessments, project progress meetings.
• Plant buildings extensions and modifications for steel structures.
• Leading a team of engineers and designers to complete the job on time and on budget.
• Coordination with other disciplines and with client representatives.
• Review of seismology and Geotechnical Reports
• Establishing design criteria, design basis and proposals for clients.
• Developing Discipline/ Project Design Calculations using Excel sheet for typical design such as Anchor bolts, Base plate, crane girders, isolated foundations, etc.
• Preparing Bid documents including scope of work, specifications, method of measurements, and bill of quantities.
• Review of structural, civil, architectural detailed drawings/ shop drawings.
• Training for South Africa Company engineers on Finite Element Analysis using STAAD Pro
• Preparing project material take off for concrete works including buildings, pipe supports, equipment foundations, retaining structures and underground concrete structures, roads, structural steel, demolitions, masonry works, drainage, landscaping works, site preparations including site clearing, excavations and backfilling as well as steel works including structural steel buildings, structures, shelters, pipe racks, etc.
• Preparing Man-hour estimates to perform the job, construction schedule and plan for bidding purposes and presenting it using Microsoft project or Sure Track software.
• Initiating correspondence with sub- contractors for pre-bid arrangements and quotations, attending job site meetings and all related work through bid process.
• Design and analysis of concrete forms and temporary construction works
