Job Summary :
Reporting to the Senior Resident Engineer, the Resident Engineer is to assist in the supervision,
monitoring and managing the Contractor including their compliance with the conditions of contract
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
The main responsibilities are to make sure that work is carried out to the Project Works
Authority’s (PWA) standards, specification and schedule and the Contractor complies with his contractual duties.
The Resident Engineer will assist the Senior Resident Engineer in the supervision of the project Works; and expected to perform the following:
•
Assist the Senior Resident Engineer in performing the assigned duties in the conditions of contract for the Works;
•
Assist the Senior Resident Engineer in the management and direction of a team of Site Engineers and Works Inspectors for the supervision and monitoring compliance and execution of the Works;
•
Assists the Senior Resident Engineer in reporting on progress, safety, finance, quality, delay and changes;
• Build a trusted relationship with the Project Management Consultant staff;
• Establishes an appropriate working relationship with the Contractor;
• Assists the Senior Resident Engineer in monitoring progress of construction against the program, and takes steps to ensure the program is achieved;
• Responds to the Contractor’s technical queries;
• Ensuring that the Site Engineers are kept informed of important and relevant service/design decisions and that the objectives of the PWA are achieved;
• Continually ensuring that practices, policies, strategy and services represent the PWA’s best interests; and that the construction work is in keeping with current legislation, standards and Codes of Practice;
• Ensuring that the Contractor liaises with the Utility authorities, for the relocation of utilities and / or other authorities, contractors or consultants who interface with the
project;
• Ensures that the project quality control procedures are used for the supervision works and monitors it for improvement;
• Evaluates, selects, and adapts construction management and control techniques,
procedures, and criteria to suit job tasks, and devises and implements solutions to problems encountered; and,
•Ensures that the construction Supervision team members effectively identify, manage and report project risks.
• Resident Engineers liaise closely with the Contractor's staff. They must, however, maintain their independence, as they are responsible for working in the best interests of the Project Works Authority.

Duties :
Ensure that the contractor’s compliance with the contract Documents.
Coordination with other Contractor, Consultant and Governmental departments.
Review and approve the Contractor‘s shop Drawings.
Responsible for the final materials submittal and approval.
Check and Certify progress payment to the Contractor.
Check personnel, equipment and material costs for Variation order and change Order required under the terms of Contract.
Prepare Variation Order for all (Additional and New works).
Preparation of the Monthly Report.
Inspect safety conditions and inform the contractor of construction safety Violations and following up action should be taken.
Review all construction activities regarding compliance with local traffic ordinances and public convenience.
Review and make recommendations on contractor’s claims.
Check and approve As- Built Drawings submitted by the contractor.
Check and approve the final payment certificate submitted by the contractor.

Setting out surveying data for the network lines and levels

Quality of works executed same as lamination, painting, executed chambers, manhole’s structures, lifting stations treatment plants NDM works driving and receiving pits and line with its shoring system for the safety of work.
Checking measurements sheets and the payment certificates and raising my comments to RE.
