* Monitor patient’s condition and assess their needs to provide the best possible care and advice
* Observe and interpret patient’s symptoms and communicate them to physicians
* Collaborate with physicians and nurses to devise individualized care plans for patients
* Perform routine procedures (blood pressure measurements, administering injections etc.) and fill in patients’ charts
* Adjust and administer patient’s medication and provide treatments according to physician’s orders
* Provide instant medical care in emergencies
* Foster a supportive and compassionate environment to care for patients and their families
* Expand knowledge and capabilities by attending educational workshops, conferences etc.
*Monitor exact, detailed reports and records of the critical ICU patients.
* Monitor and record symptoms and changes in patients’ conditions and information to the physician.
* Order, interpret and evaluate diagnostics texts to identify and assess the patient’s condition.
* Carefully observe and document patient medical information and vital signs
* Direct and supervise less-skilled nursing/health care personnel, or supervise a particular unit on one shift to patient’s response and conditions.
* Assessing a child’s needs and providing initial care.
* Monitoring temperature, pulse, breathing and blood pressure and keeping accurate records.
* Evaluating children for sigs and symptoms of abuse
* Providing supportive care to dying children.
* Remaining up to date on the latest developments, rules and regulations, drug therapies, equipment and treatment procedures.
*Provide care for infants immediately after birth
*Oversee the care of infants’ patients in the NICU
* Troubleshoot and maintain NICU equipment
* Consult with parents/guardians on aftercare and long-term health management for infants
* Educate new parents on basic infant care including breastfeeding, hygiene and safety
* Perform tests ordered by the obstetrician or nurse practitioner and evaluate the results.
* Dealing with the anxieties and demands of parents, and helping families to deal with their child’s illness or injury.
*Performing basic nursing procedures such as vital signs taking, monitoring, cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
* Ability to start, terminate an intravenous line and caring naso-gastric tubes, OG tubes on infants and children.
* Keep parents and families updated on their loved ones.
* Know how to perform accurate drug dose calculations according to the age of infants and children.
* Know how to use and adjust complex and specialized equipment like ventilators, incubators, C-PAP, HFNC.
* Infant is very different from adults. Infants cannot communicate verbally when in pain, their bodies respond differently to medications and treatment and they must be protected from potential dangers.
* Must also understand and be vigilant to prevent harm from risks that specifically effect newborns such as temperature changes or excess oxygen.
* Give children medication in the form of injections pills and liquids based on their medical needs.
