Basic field operations of drill bits & drilling tools product lines in Oman.
Frequent travelling to India for Mega drill bit tenders work.
Provide basic engineering support on tool applications, to ensure the successful utilization and operation of the given tool or product.
Capture tool performance data from ongoing jobs for the data base entry and prepare present customer run reports and run summaries.
Provide field analysis for failed tool investigation and coordinate with Service Quality Group to provide applicable incident report.
Provide open communication between Drilling Solutions and Product Line engineering.
Support field testing of new products and design improvements.
Make recommendations to enhance existing products to drive reliability.
Improve overall drilling performance by conducting in-depth studies of offset well data and information, subsequently recommending good drilling practices.
Produce and present a pre-drill report, setting out data and information from offset wells. This including benchmarking past performance, the
definition of local best drilling practices to improve drilling performance and efficiency, based on detailed bit programs, BHA design, control of
drillstring dysfunction’s and optimized hydraulics.
Deliver on-site implementation of recommendations, and provide training for drilling crew on recommended drilling practices and downhole
anti-vibration techniques.
Conduct post-well analysis of well data collected throughout the well, discussing hole section bit runs, drilling practices seen at rigsite, time breakdown analysis, and overall drilling performance.
Conduct “Drill Off Tests” for each formation and record results (WOB, RPM, Torque and ROP relationships) when running drill bits on the field.
Advise on correct combination of drilling parameters for each application (relationship between ROP and durability, directional drilling requirements etc.).
Full dull grading of both the drill bit and BHA components when pulled to surface including likely fail characteristic of the drilling system (if applicable).
Familiarization of all downhole failure modes for each drill bit type and interpretation of surface and downhole indications.
Preparation of a full post run report with photographs, operating parameters chart, and survey data.
Recognize, monitor different downhole vibration modes (Axial, Lateral and Torsional vibration) from surface and downhole measurements and apply correct drilling parameters to minimize any such vibration.
Perform hydraulics calculation (simulation) prior to and during drilling.
Work on the derrick to pull out and run in the drill pipe.
Attend mud systems on the rig and check mud properties on continuous basis. Take measurements of mud weight and viscosity and post readings clearly on the blackboard.
Mix chemicals with mud or brine and transfer to and from various tanks and filters.
Participate in maintenance and repair of the mud pumps (National 12-P-160). Includes changing liners and pistons.
Inspect the drawworks (National 1320-UE, 2000 HP), derrick mast, crown block and travelling block and report faulty equipment and damage to
structure.
Participate in all operations on the rig floor and around the well head. Includes tripping in and out of the hole. Make and break connection involving drill pipes, drill collars on the rig floor using manual tongs and power tong.
Assist services companies’ specialists in testing and running casing, tubing, cementation and wireline operations as assigned.
Flange up BOP (13 5/8" Cameron), well head equipment and test equipment.
Assemble and dismantle fishing tools, testing, coring and well head equipment.
Participate in locating such items as drilling tools, drill pipe, casing and tubing to or from the rig floor, derrick, cantilever and main decks.
Connect or disconnect and participate as part of a team in racking sections of drill pipes, casing, tubing and drill collars. Dope threads to ensure
smooth and close fit.
Ensure that thread protectors are always placed on drill pipe, drill collars and crossovers that are being hoisted or stored.
Maintain drilling tools, tongs, elevators, slips and rig floor equipment, in a clean and good condition. Clean rig floor, shale shaker, mud pits when requested. Perform wire brushing and painting when needed.
Check, clean and maintain the handling tools on the rig floor.
Assist in the rig move preparation and setting up of rig floor, cantilever and main decks.
Carry out other related duties such as lubricating drilling equipment within established schedule, advising supervisor of tools, machinery and
equipment requiring repair or replacement, and keeping drilling equipment and working areas tidy and orderly.
Assist in slipping and cutting of drilling line.
Assist the Rig Technician in servicing the Top Drive (Le Tourneau 500 Ton) when needed.
Assist Derrickman in chemicals mixing including basic operation and maintenance of mud hopper.
Assist in all loading/unloading operations from barges including transfer of cargo on board the rig such as drill pipes, casings and drilling tools.
Preform general cleaning duties including washing and painting of floors, rails, structures and carry out needle gunning, sand blasting, priming and painting of areas on the rig as directed.
Assist in cleaning all drifting and thread protection of tubulars.
Carry out other related duties such as assisting in rig moves, tying of equipment and stores, observing safety rules and regulations.
