Education

Doctorate, Energy Economics
  • at Université Mohammed V De Rabat
  • December 2024

Thesis title : "Prospective modelling of the Moroccan energy system and its interactions with the Moroccan economy" Methodology : Combining Top-Down (General Equilibrium) and Bottom-Up (OSeMOSYS) models to analyse spillovers from the energy sector to the Moroccan economy. The goal is to analyse the Moroccan energy transition, its price dynamics and its impact on economic development, job market and macroeconomic balances. Context: Morocco imports most of its energy needs due to the unavailability of fossil fuel reserves. This makes the country vulnerable to international energy price shocks and causes risks to the security, affordability and sustainability of Total Energy Supply in the country. Renewable energy present an opportunity to offset some of these risks. Keywords: Optimization - Bottom up - Top Down - Energy economics - CGE models - Structural decomposition analysis - Sector linkages.

Hobbies

  • Reading
Reading books and articles is for me the best way to increase your knowledge. As a researcher in economics, political and economic news make me stay updated on economic problems facing the country, while reading scientific articles helps me in better understanding the world around me not only in economics but also in sociology and psychology. I also read self-help for improving my quality of life.
  • Exercising
I train religiously 4 times a week, where each time I am mostly jogging for 40 min with 25 minute exercises. On Saturdays, I play football at the "Left Back" position, where you'll find me grinding in defence and exploding to join the fast break on offence. Add me to your team, and you're almost guaranteed a high IQ player with simple but effective passes with an advanced vision.
  • Travelling
Travelling changes my perception of reality, allows me to reset my brain after a challenging period. My most memorable experience is when I climbed Toubkal mountain (i.e: the highest mountain in Morocco), alone at the age of 18 years old.
  • Meditation
Peace of mind, better mental health, calmness, stress management and clarity of thoughts
