• • Receive raw material/welded plates, pipes etc. from fabrication shop intended for use in Nuclear Power Plant.
• Co-ordinate with defence agencies for getting QC seal on the plate.
• Outsource specimen preparation activity for preparing required specimens for testing.
• Perform Mechanical and Metallographic tests as per ASTM/DIN standards. Compare the test results against the requirements of ASME Sec III.
• Generate test reports for qualifying the raw material/fabricated components as per nuclear standards.
• Perform failure analysis on boiler tubes/pipes which encounter failure due to fabrication or water regime.
• Provide support to Thermal/Process steam generators by providing feedback of past failures to minimize breakdown.
• Provide RLA support to power plant to estimate the remaining life left in the Power plant components before emergency breakdown.
• Literature and patent survey was conducted on jet impingement cooling, one of the methods usually adopted for cooling surfaces operating at high heat fluxes.
• Discussed with mentors for choosing the geometrical and analytical methods used in papers/patents for implementing in project.
• Familiarized with CFD techniques and simulation tools within a short span of time and developed benchmark models for running simulations using the basic parameters.
• Results were correlated with already published research papers.
