The Department of Pharmacy Services is operating through five main pharmacy outlets and a number of satellite pharmacies.Materials requirements are bridged from logistics department (another department) to pharmacy outlets through four pharmacy stores(belong to pharmacy). As a supervisor, I report to the Assistant Director of Pharmacy for Materials Management. My duties include, but not limited to, the following:-
1- Liaison between the P&T committee and logistics department to add new formulary items, update usage figures or delete existing formulary items.
2-Assist with the ongoing demand forecasting.
3-Follow-up on availability profiles of critical drugs.
4-Processing and follow-up for named-patient non-formulary drug requests.
5-Supervision and monitory of pharmacy stores operations and drafting the necessary policies and procedures to ensure integrity of the following:-
a-Timely re-ordering..
b-Accuracy of receiving processes.
c-Accurate placement and storage:-
*cold storage items.
*hazardous materials
*high alert items
*roof and floor space.
*heavy and light materials.
*breakable materials.
*liquid and dry materials.
d-Accurate arrangement of materials in shelves/bins.
e- Accurate issue system that follows chronology of expiration dates.
f-Proper management of recalled, expired and other non-usable materials until they are finally collected by a "destruction agent".
g-Monitor issue quantities at difficult times (low stocks).
i-Coordination and integration of the five stores operations to ensure mobilization of stagnating drugs-- a perceived one virtual store.
j-Track and rationalize usage of short-dated materials.
k-Participation in the formulary maintenance committee
l-Training of staff
j-Participation in the pharmacy residency program with comprehensive informative session on healthcare materials management and procurement.
