Setup a best practice Procurement Process within URC for the Corporate office as well as its subsidiaries. Oversee the Procurement process and controls of all procurement related activities of URC and it's subsidiaries, inclusive of Goods and services.
This is a multifunctional role and heads five main departments - Distribution Department, International Sales, International Expansion, Purchase Department, and Operational Excellence.
Achievements:
Developed a market entry strategy to expand X-cite stores in Saudi Arabia and conducted detailed on-site competitive analysis of Riyadh, Jeddah & Dammam.
Appointed new distributors in the strategic Middle East countries, working in Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, etc.
Setup a Kuwait Distribution Sales organization from scratch, now contributing over 10% of total Group turnover with major clients such as Carrefour, Geant, Lulu, Boots, Williams Sonoma etc.
Reduced freight rates (over land) by around 40% and insurance rates by around 70% resulting in a near 50% reduction in logistics costs of imported goods.
Improved insurance claim management through better contract negotiations, resulting in an overall reduction of over 50% of damaged goods.
Enhanced various processes to improve overall cost of operations with a potential annual savings of US$1.2M.
Head of After Sales Support (inclusive of Service Centre, Home Delivery and Installation Departments), Purchase Department, Operational Excellence as well as Business Head for Small Domestic Appliances (SHW). With a group of over 1, 000 staff in various teams, the role was varied and necessitated a strategic thinker with diverse capabilities to plan and execute improvements and adoption of best global practises to keep ahead of competition.
Achievements:
Led the successful implementation of Alghanim’s E-commerce project - www.xcite.com
Grew the SHW Business category by 15% YoY while retaining healthy margins.
Awarded Best Distributor by Philips, Global Distributor of the year by Princess and won various awards from Philips, Daewoo and others during this period.
Introduced new business categories of Health and Wellness as well as Electronics Toys improving Gross Profit.
Introduced new brands - Breville (Australia), Otto (Singapore), Valera (Swiss), etc.
Improved the overall service response time with an improvement of 15 points on Customer Satisfaction Index.
Reduced fleet operating costs by 7% through better resource utilization.
Led the VP’s cost saving project - Project DOC (Drive out Cost) achieving an overall cost reduction of US$1M.
Implemented various Lean Six Sigma projects resulting in cost reduction of around US$600K.
Successfully managed a Process Key Control project with consultants from Protiviti (www.protiviti.com).
Head of Alghanim China Operations handling all Alghanim BU’s China sourcing requirements, including Consumer Electronics, Home Furnishing, Manufacturing, Engineering and Automotive. This role was handled concurrently with Kuwait roles.
Achievements:
Improved Wansa (www.wansaelectronics.com) product quality through Quality Control initiatives.
Improved IT infrastructure and communication protocol between Kuwait and China.
Led a team of lawyers and consultants to convert the China Office from a Representative office to a fully fledged trading entity (WFOE).
Selected by CEO - Mr. Omar Alghanim to lead the OE initiative within the Group.
Achievements:
Successfully rolled out LSS projects and training program within the organization. Led the training and development of over 80 team members on various levels of LSS training.
Completed Green Belt and Black Belt training and handled 4 strategic projects which contributed to cost savings of 5% sales turnover.
Led the project of converting X-cite’s customer-facing processes to Best in Class along with Eames Management Group (www.eamesmgmt.com). 18 of 22 projects were rolled out with an impact on EVA increase of 100%.
Managed the Warehouse and Logistics operations of Alghanim Electronics’ operations.

Enhanced the operations of the warehouse through the use of RF devices and usage of SAP.
Reduced truck idle time and improved customer delivery times.
Launched for the first time in Kuwait a 24hr Express Home Delivery.
Launched sales of accessories by Delivery teams at customer premise, which enhanced customer satisfaction.
Headed the overall Strategic Planning and Analysis Department working directly with the President.

Built up Wansa as a key private label brand of choice within the Kuwait Electronics Market.
Managed various categories of the Electronics industry including White Goods, Brown Goods, Small Domestic Appliances, Photography, Mobiles, etc.
Introduced new brands including Toshiba (Japan), Indesit (Italy), Princess (Holland), Windmere (USA), Coby (USA), Karcher (Germany), etc.
Successfully introduced Wansa CTV & Projection TV's and made it reach a dominant market share position.
Awarded best sales and marketing awards by Philips for SDA sales, fastest growing Distributor by Toshiba TV Department.
Headed the sales and marketing of Consumer Electronics and Small Domestic Appliances products.
This role included development of Marketing Plans and working closely with Advertising Agency, Market Research Agencies to ensure that overall objectives were met.
Joined Alghanim Electronics to support the Marketing activities of Philips Domestic Appliances category and within less than a year was given the responsibility of Consumer Electronics and Photography Categories.
Hired on a project to implement PC networking for the entire organization and implement an Enterprise solution.
