The laboratory Technologist is responsible for independently performing routine tests in a clinical laboratory (Biochemistry, Endocrinology, Hematology, Microbiology, collection of sample, Blood bank, parasitology and Serology), reporting on findings from the tests, and contributing to the general maintenance of equipments and supplies key responsibilities of the role: 1. Perform routine and specialized tests in one or more sections of the clinical laboratory (independently or with minimal supervision). 2. Recognize the clinical significance of each test performance and report results within established time frames. 3. Communicate in a professional and courteous manner with all individuals to obtained information for laboratory records, explain procedures, and elicit cooperation. 4. Participate in receiving and processing specimens as required by respective laboratory area procedures and protocols prepare reagents etc… used in the processing of specimens. 5. Assist in training new personnel and provide technical assistance to new employees. 6. Perform routine maintenance as required by laboratory procedures. 7. Perform various QUALITY CONTROL procedures to maintain compliance with internal and external regulation. 8. Participate in the development of new procedure, techniques and equipment used in obtaining and handling laboratory specimens. 9. Participate in creating and maintaining lab procedures utilize various Hospital information system and software. 10. Assist with word processing, miscellaneous office tasks (including the ordering of laboratory supplies) and maintaining office records. 11. Follow clinical laboratory testing procedures and policies in the performance of routine and specialized tests. 12. Identify source and nature of test problems and make appropriate recommendations for action. 13. Apply scientific methods in problem solving and assist in the evaluation of new methods and techniques. 14. Ensure that quality control criteria are met and adhere to established laboratory policies in handling hazardous substances. 15. Record necessary documentation to comply with various regulatory authorities and hospital regulation. 16. Perform required instrument maintenance at the prescribed times and log appropriately. 17. Perform minor trouble-shooting on instrumentation. 18. Maintain complete confidentiality of all patient and employee information.
