-Ensure that cost justifiable IT capacity always exists and that it is matched to the current and future identified needs of the business
-Monitor the performance and throughput of the IT services
-Tuning activities to make efficient use of resources
-Understand and collect the current demand for IT services and produce forecasts for future requirements
-Help to influence demands for IT resources
-Providing a capacity plan predicting the IT resources needed to achieve agreed or proposed service levels
-Demonstrate cost effectiveness during vendor and technology selection
-Understanding and absorption of current and future technology
-Building and operating a capacity management database CMDB that forms the basis for the production of all capacity management reporting
-Achieve the balance between cost and capacity from one side and between supply and demand from other side
-Elimination of panic buying and unnecessary spare capacity
-Risk reduction of performance problems and failures
