Today, Information Systems Management Officer training consists of two courses. The Information Systems Operator Leveler Course is a 10-week course designed to bring officers from various career fields to a common skills and knowledge base that better prepares them for attendance to the 20-week Information Systems Management Course. In general, this training includes hardware, software, networking, server management, security, and various database and web topics. Currently, the SIT instructs these areas sequentially and provides a solid technical foundation for FA 53 officers.
These areas have been the core FA 53 training for several years, but the SIT is revising its training modules to meet the emerging challenges brought about through modularity, the introduction of JNN, and OIF lessons learned. The SIT will reduce some training modules such as software programming and add others to adapt to the Army’s needs.
1- Design or prepare graphic representations of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data, using GIS hardware or software applications.
2- Analyze Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data to identify spatial relationships or display results of analyses, using maps, graphs, or tabular data.
3- Maintain or modify existing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) databases.
4- Enter data into Geographic Information Systems (GIS) databases, using techniques such as coordinate geometry, keyboard entry of tabular data, manual digitizing of maps, scanning or automatic conversion to vectors, or conversion of other sources of digital data.
5- Review existing or incoming data for currency, accuracy, usefulness, quality, or completeness of documentation.
6- Perform geospatial data building, modeling, or analysis, using advanced spatial analysis, data manipulation, or cartography software.
7- Design or coordinate the development of integrated Geographic Information Systems (GIS) spatial or non-spatial databases.
8- Select cartographic elements needed for effective presentation of information.
9- Provide technical support to users or clients regarding the maintenance, development, or operation of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) databases, equipment, or applications.

1-Perform classroom instruction and maintain instructor certification using TRADOC approved Instructional methodology.

4-Present approved instruction and apply the current program of instruction (POI).
5-Stay current with required industry certifications and provide a copy of certifications to the COR.

8-Install and/or operate classroom control software on classroom IT equipment.
9-Provide students with evaluation sheets, administer and enforce test control standards, and conduct testing in subjects taught, to include grading of exams, evaluation of results, recording of exam result, and administer student critiques for courses.
10-Develop new tests associated with the new curriculum.
11-Maintain and report student attendance, records, and statistics.
12-Evaluate students and report academic concerns to the COR when warranted by classroom performance, e.g. academic test failure, excessive absences, etc.
13-Audit and edit all developed courseware for accuracy, completeness, flow, balance, and clarity of understanding, as determined by the COR.
14-Review and modify all lessons, material, labs, and instruction.
15-Develop, research, provide and maintain new and existing IA courseware.
16-Review the current POI and Lesson Plans (LP) as required together with other pertinent documents, e.g. student handouts, slides, practical exercises, in order to revise, create, or update the documentation and curriculum to reflect current or emerging course needs.
17-Collect, maintain, and analyze student and customer feedback on instructors, material, and/or curriculum.
18-Develop new tests associated with the new curriculum.
The BCOT course teaches the leadership and operational skills required to lead the world's most respected communications and information warriors.BCOT is 13 weeks with about 17 classes graduating each year.
1- Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
2- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary.
3- Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
4- Configure, monitor, and maintain email applications or virus protection software.
5- Operate master consoles to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, and to coordinate computer network access and use.
6- Design, configure, and test computer hardware, networking software and operating system software.
7- Monitor network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future.
